Hi all! I just got sleeved on 4/30! I had a gastric band in June of 2012, had a band revision in March 2013, band removal in Feb of 2014 and finally sleeved on 4/30. My starting weight with band was 317lbs. My weight before sleeve was 274. Pre op got me down to 264 and today I am 263! I thought that 5 days post op would have showed a little more in the scale but I guess not. Is this normal?

Wow, you've been thru the gauntlet. My guess is you're still getting rid of the fluids from the surgery. Give it a few more days......you'll see a significant drop. Doing some walking may spur on the losses. ;)

Totally normal! My first month I was a little taken back since I only had a 13 pound loss. My nutritionist said it was due to the large amount of weight I dropped during my pre-op. My body was hitting a plateau and holding on to everything for dear life. The second month, it was 25 pounds for a total 38!! Not bad for 2 months. Just stick with it and it'll happen! :)

Well I am only 5 days post op so I am no expert yet. I read all the stories about going from a band to sleeve is not as successful and it kind of took the wind out of my sails. The recovery is harder but nothing you can't deal with. I am going to go back to work today. When I had the band Iost 100lbs in 8.5 months and was soooooo happy until I got really sick. I am praying to get the same results with this!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
