my_journey 9 Posted May 5, 2014 OK.. So I know we're supposed to sip our Water so we don't have pains from drinking too fast.. But how fast is too fast??? Like how much should I realistically drink in 15 minutes post surgery ?? If I take a sip.. Set the water down.. When can I take another sip without being in pain ?? 1 Cookiesgotthis reacted to this

I think everyone is different, I have no problem drinking water. I get plenty of water down. I did sip at first out of a medicine cup but while still in hospital I was drinking out of the big cup hospital gave me.
enjoyinglife 313 Posted May 5, 2014 It took me 20 minutes to drink 8oz of Water at first. Now I can drink that in about 5 minutes. 1 WildGrits reacted to this
BBdoodle 483 Posted May 5, 2014 My surgeon always said "sip, sip, sip, sip, sip". A few weeks after surgery I once gulped by accident and it hurt. Now I'm 2 yrs post op and still do not gulp but can certainly take a way more than a sip at one time. Do what ever does not cause you discomfort. We are all different and can tolerate different things at different levels.

Once you are home from the hospital, your body with tell you if you drank too fast. But don't worry, it's not a long pain. It's more like a reminder to slow down.
