Am head hungry and sight hungry. I had my VGS on the 25th of April. I followed my doctors two week liquid diet as he ordered. Now I am starting week four of the same diet. chicken broth, Powerade zero the usual things. Every where we go there is food all over the place. I never realized how life revolved around food until this surgery. Not the needed food to survive but the if I see it I am going to eat it need. I have done good ( as far as hunger) until yesterday and today I feel starved buy my stomach is fine. It does not hurt nor does it cramp. I am assuming this is head hunger that I have been reading about. Does it ever go away?

Yes most of us go thru this. Its super normal to think your hungry when your really not. It will get better as time passes and once you start eating solid foods. Trust me there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

GL on your journey!

I am 8 days out and every commercial is a killer for me. All I want is (insert any fast food item). I have to mentally push the head hunger away and it's a struggle.

I had a frigging dream the other night that I was BBQing for my family but not being able to eat any. It was horrible.

I agree with you about the world revolving around food. I watched a TED talk where a scientist said the most dangerous and addictive drug on earth is sugar. I was simply blown away by this as it had never occurred to me. Everything has sugar in it, I mean everything.

The head hunger Haaaaassssss to subside at some point...

Head hunger is a problem for most of us. I still have it, and it's something we all have to learn to manage. Some days are easier than others, but most days it can be a struggle, even if only for a few minutes. I find that when I've had simple/refined carbs, I crave more. When I've got the right mental attitude and resolve firmly in place, it's easier. It's just something I have to overcome, a day at a time. food IS everywhere, and so much of what we do does revolve around it, it's no wonder we have these issues. At least now with the sleeve I have a fighting chance with actual physical hunger decreased and a decreased capacity, I can usually get a hold of myself before I do too much damage. I also find that tracking every bite helps keep me focused.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
