Hello! I have posted a couple of times plb (prelapband) and now I AM ONE! Much easier than I anticipated, having gas trouble but walking helps. Outside of that minimal pain, some weakness Natch! Went w/friends and the husband and I were the bandees. Our spouses were terrific. We are both doing well. I LOOK fatter and feel it but know it is gas remaining, etc., but oh wonder of wonders...NOT HUNGRY! That's it for now, will post when I have something informative to say.

I think this is how most of you close your posts:

banded 4/9/07

BMI 34.4 (204#)

aiming for 140

70 YOA - Yeah that's right! If I can do it w/a pacemaker, back surgery and old bones you young darlings can! jb

Oh, Dr. Aceves - Mexicali

Hi Anniejo---so glad all went well for you!!! Dr. Aceves did my surgery as well!

There is an April band group, have you checked in with them? They are a great group!

Isn't the feeling of not being hungry a great thing? It won't last forever yet----but remember how it feels because that feeling WILL be back to last!!!

Welcome to Bandland!!!

Kat

Hi, How is your pain? Are you taking pain medicine? I'm not banded yet - I'm going through the process, I have my first doctors appointment next Wednesday. Did you have any test done or just consultations with doctors? Just curious

Thanks for any info

Debi

Pain is no problem, always better than my c-sections... They prescribe codine for ya i only took it the first 4 days. Always a consultation first, then pre op blood work. I live in Toronto, canada.

Did you have to go on an all liquid diet for more then a week? I was talking with a lady that already ws banded by the doctor I'm going to and she said hte hardest thing for her was a TWO WEEK liquid DIET. If I could do that for TWO WEEKS I wouldn't need the band! LOL

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
