Hello fellow sleevers,

Thank you for listening and perhaps providing some insight and advice. I am sitting here crying as I type this post. Part of my insurance requirement is that I attend 6 months of nutrition visits. On top of that you are not allowed to gain weight during this period. I am finding this so frustrating and difficult. If i could lose weight on my own I would not be having the surgery. How do they expect me to lose weight on my own??? If i gain any weight my insurance will deny me the surgery! The pressure is too great for me t handle! Im having such a hard time with this.

Thanks for listening.

I'm not gonna kid you that is a big ask but maybe just try to think 1 lb per month. A loss is a loss and you can guzzle Water and make that happen. I did that 6 months and had only small losses but taking 4 insulin shots a day I was still pretty proud. You can make it

It doesn't say you have to loose anything. Just that you can't gain. Did I read that correctly?

I think you're focus should be on that. Just don't gain. You should be ok

Yeah, I think you just have to maintain your weight, not lose.

But now would be a fantastic time to start using the tools a lot of us post-op'ers utilize, like calorie trackers (my favorite is sparkpeople.com) and your BMR calculator to figure out how many calories you can eat to lose or maintain. Track your calories every day to make sure you don't go over your BMR. Again, you don't have to lose, just maintain your weight!

I know its frustrating, but it will all be worth it in the end...I promise!

I thought the same thing when my dr told me to loose 5lbs ... I know it's not a lot but my nurse told me that for someone who is on certain meds like I'm on it does make it hard and that I'm one they consider obese not mobility obese it will be harder ( I'm like thanks) but when I put my mind to it and followed the pre-op diet I did loose it . And when I went for my final weigh in I stayed the same ... Stay strong and it will happen ... Oh once a week I ate something I wanted to (food funeral) just to have that last food for a while ... Good luck!!!

You can do this for six months, or do nothing but eat for six months. Either way six months will pass. If you focus on the reward you will get at the end of six months I think you will find you can do this. My husband and I had three months wait and lost at least 20 lbs each, because we had a plan of action. It will be easier than you think. Start with a Protein Shake for one meal a day, and don't keep bread, potatoes and Pasta in your house. Instead of going out to eat, plan your meals wisely. You can do this!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
