I had my RNY surgery on 4/17/2014 weighing at 191lb on a 5 foot frame. I opted for the surgery to reverse my type 2 diabetes, and my sugar is now under 100 and sometimes below 70 ( yikes). I have been on soft Protein only and have been sick with "frothing" twice :( today I wish I can turn back time and maybe not gave had this surgery, I don't like being sick after you eat ( it hasn't been all the time just twice) . Has any one ever wish they didn't have the surgery???? I know I can't change this but am regretting today I went forth with it. I hope this will get better and I won't feel this way any more. Confused, upset, and a bit depressed.

Yes yes I felt the same way as you and many others have also. So don't get down and feel upset. It's called buyers remorse and most us go through this. Just think how much better you are feeling and will keep getting better with your weight loss. No more dm2, high bp, or other health issues. With time you will feel better and be able to eat soft foods and eventually regular foods and have small portions and with the results you will feel even better. So hang in there and let your body heal. You did the right thing. Good luck and hang in there!

I had my surgery 3/10. The only time I regretted it was the day after. I only doubted it for a split second. I think it hit me that this was a done deal….a game changer…..no looking back now. that lasted for a few minutes then I started to remember why I had this done. Have not regretted it once since that day. I've gotten sick a few times. It's a learning process…this new way of life. Sometimes that one extra bite will send you over the edge into nausea. However, it only took a few times and I started to listen really well to my tiny tummy. Even now, it seems I can eat more some days than others. I just pray I never stretch my tummy out. That scares me to death. Good luck…Happy Losing, and I hope you feel better soon.

What you're experiencing is normal. Most people I know who have had surgery had those moments of doubt right after surgery. I went through the same emotions, if only for a fleeting moment. I am almost 7 weeks post-op and until just a few days ago, experienced pain in my pouch every time I swallowed Water or any liquid over room temperature. Between 5 & 6 weeks out, I spent almost a week feeling nauseated every time I ate. So, just those couple of times, I wondered if I had made a mistake; but, it was only because I was a little emotional over the pain/nausea I was experiencing. I am very happy overall with my decision to have the surgery. I am off all meds and have lost almost 49 pounds since beginning my journey.

You will have moments of doubt, but just think of all the reasons you did this and the doubts will fade. You will heal and fluorish, and have a beautiful and successful journey! :)

I am 10 months out and could not be happier with my decision. I have lost more that 185 pounds and just purchased SIZE 6 jeans. My results have surpassed my wildest fantasies! That said, those first weeks are really tough, or were for me. When I was able to eat it didn't feel anything like a meal. I just wanted to feel normal again. Not with junk food or eating a lot, but having a meal that looked a bit like the plate you see with the recommendations for healthy eating. It takes time, but you will get there. Stay true to your plan. You are going to love the new you!

The only regret I have ever had was waiting so long to do it. It is easily the second best best decision I have ever made in my life (the first is marrying my husband of 32yrs). :-)

I am almost 2 weeks post op, but I'm still in regret stage... I don't regret it totally.. I know it will change my life, but I've been so depressed for these two weeks, I'm just ready for some sort or normal????

I think we all have or will have some moments of doubt. This is no picnic. It's possibly the hardest thing many of us have done. Add to to it low energy, probably not the greatest sleep, and our head messing with us and you've got the mixture for doubt.

I had regret the first week it was so hard. Then I told myself this us not a miracle cure it is a a life style change. We all have to change what we do or we can mess up what we have worked for. Stay focused it does get better.

Thank you! I have received so much support right here. I owe much of my success to being active on this site. I have just under 12 pounds to my goal of 200 pounds lost be my Surgiversay. Tonight I am off to Zumba. It takes work, but can be done. I am living proof! I am happy to answer questions for any that have them. I would love to pay forward all the support I have received.

The 1St and 2ND week after surgery I didn't have regret but more thoughts of what the hell did I just do. With that being said I am 7 months out had surgery in 9/30/13 I am down 90# something that I would have never been able to do in my own. My weight loss doesn't feel super fast but when I look at the numbers I think my God! I don't have any regrets, with that being said not everyday is a good day. Some days I don't feel well, sometimes I get tired and moody. One thing that I can say is if I had to do it over again I would! One of the best things I have ever done!

I had a few seconds of regret. Then I thought, what it's the point of regret? The surgery is over, my guts are rearranged, there is no turning back. Lol

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
