Pretty_In_Purple 112 Posted May 4, 2014 (edited) How many calories does your 8oz Protein Shake have including the milk if applicable? And what kind of shake do you use? Where do you get your shakes? And general cost? Thank you :-) Edited May 4, 2014 by Pretty_In_Purple
BRG 39 Posted May 4, 2014 This is my favorite: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Atkins-Advantage-Cafe-Caramel-Shake-4ct/11028011 Atkins Advantage shakes 15g Protein 1g Sugar 160 Calories (11 ounces) 3g CarbsI like them because they taste good and are low carb. 1 Pretty_In_Purple reacted to this
Josh2xh 70 Posted May 4, 2014 The Atkins shakes are very tasty. The big problem is you get a better bang for your Protein with something else. 15 g of Protein is not much compared to premiere protein with 30g or pure protein with 35g. I believe all three drinks are 11ml. So if you are having trouble choking down the same sluge, the Atkins shakes are a good alternative but you have to choke down more. menjaz 35 Posted May 4, 2014 I use Premier Protein shakes, which come ready to drink and chocolate, strawberry, and vanilla. They are 11 oz, 160 calories, 30 grams of Protein, 3 grams of fat, and 4 grams carbohydrates. I add a few ounces of Decaf to cut the sweetness a bit. They cost about $24 for 18. (They sometimes go on coupon for $4 off.) Good luck!
Bufflehead 6,358 Posted May 4, 2014 My standard shake is either Jay Robb or Unjury -- I mix with Carb Master milk. Using Unjury, numbers for 8 oz are: 160 calories, 32 grams Protein, 7 carbs. Jay Robb: 170 calories, 36 grams protein, 4 carbs.
Miss Mac 6,262 Posted May 4, 2014 Ii way overbought many kinds to have variety, but my go-to is unjury chocolate 100 calories per scoop with 8 Oz of Vanilla Almond Milk which adds another 35 calories. Milk has 140 calories per cup, so I don't drink it so much. If I want dairy Protein, I will eat a little yogurt or cheese. My other favorite is Syntrax nectar Grapefruit. I mix one scoop (100 calories) with 8 oz of Crystal Lite Lemonade. It tastes just like Fresca without the bubbles. I tried several ready to drink like Atkins Advantage and Supreme, among others, but they tasted metalic to me.
Chele H 427 Posted May 4, 2014 My surgeon told me that Protein has approx. 4 calories per gram so Premier Protein is 160 calories and 30 grams of Protein ....120 calories is from protein which he said was great. I agree that sometimes I taste something slightly metallic I think it may be the Iron. I put mine in the freezer for about 20 minutes before I drink it. I buy Premier at BJ's club, $18 for 12. If you "like" Premier on Facebook you can get coupons.
Kindle 8,667 Posted May 4, 2014 I can't stand the premier straight... Too thick and sweet. I add 16 oz skim milk to make it drinkable for me. Which brings it to 46g Protein, 340 calories. Some people may balk at the calories (and carbs that the milk adds), but I drink this 5 days/week and have been losing fine. In fact, I usually add a banana to it, too. I also drink Jay Robb, Syntrax nectar, unjury unflavored and Raw fit. 1-2 Protein drinks everyday, so the variety is nice. These were the highest protein/lowest carb/lowest calorie options I found. joyann45 29 Posted May 4, 2014 I like the EAS Protein shake-walmart. 4 pk is $3.96. 17 grams protein. strawberry, vanilla and dark chocolate. I mix the dark choc with the vanilla. Tastes just like chocolate milk
browneyedgirl1981 32 Posted May 4, 2014 I drank the Premier Protein before surgery just fine, but now they taste way too sweet for me. Now I'm drinking the Atkins Advantage. They all have the same as another posted, 160 calories and 15 grams of Protein. I've tried the French vanilla, caramel cafe, and mocha latte and they are all great! happytobehere 23 Posted May 4, 2014 If you are going for taste, I love the Syntrax nectar shakes. I mix mine with 16 oz of Water so that I am getting my Water intake as well as my Protein. They come in 12 or so flavors and alot of fruit flavors. They have 23 grams of Protein and it's whey protein which is what we need. They are pricier then what you can buy in the store but totally worth it!! It comes in a two pound container. Also, not sure where you live but I am in Tx and at HEB stores they sell Sytrax Matrix shakes and they come in great flavors besides the regular 3, they such flavors as chocolate mint, Cookies n cream, Peanut Butter cookie and others. They are also fantastic if you like to mix with milk. But you can buy all of these online as well at dietdirect.com or mybariatricpantry.com. Hope this helps!! 1 Pretty_In_Purple reacted to this
Pretty_In_Purple 112 Posted May 5, 2014 I'm asking because with skim milk my 8oz shakes are 250 calories. I haven't tried making them with Water but it sounds kind of gross to me and now that I'm used to the milk, I don't know that I could stomach the Water.< /strong> I really need to get a hold of my NUT. She's on pregnancy leave but she needs to hook me up with a co worker or something! Thanks for the replies.
gomekast 559 Posted May 5, 2014 My dietician told me my shakes had to be below 190-200 calories. At 7 months out now, I'm able to make a shake with just Water and ice and a little sugar free Torani Syrup if I need a shake, which isnt too often. Or else I just have a scoop of Syntrax nectar fuzzy navel with Water and ice.
patsy1947 42 Posted May 6, 2014 I love Premier Protein , put it in blender with a few ice cubes and its like a shake also improves the taste.
