ArcusX 216 Posted May 3, 2014 I had my pre-op class the other day, and they recommend I take a probiotic for two weeks after the surgery. Any recommendations?
hiddnstar 167 Posted May 4, 2014 I had my pre-op class the other day, and they recommend I take a probiotic for two weeks after the surgery. Any recommendations? I like Raw Probiotic by Garden of Life and Ultra Care by Metagenics. What was the reason they suggested you take a probiotic? ~hiddn

Kindle 8,667 Posted May 4, 2014 I agree with the line of Garden of Life Raw Probiotics. You will find them in the refrigerated section of any good health food/whole food store. 34 different strains at much higher CFU levels than the typical 1-2 strain products on grocery store shelves. My nut recommended drinkable yogurt with live cultures starting the 3rd day, too. Our GI flora gets thrown all out of wack from surgery, especially if we are given antibiotics. The yogurt and Probiotics help replace a good balance of bugs that we need.
ArcusX 216 Posted May 4, 2014 hat was the reason they suggested you take a probiotic? ~hiddn It had to do with the anti-bacterial soap, plus all of the antibiotics that are part of the preop and surgery. To replenish some good bacteria.
Gr8fulMiniMe 66 Posted May 31, 2014 Yes, I take Probiotic 10 by Natures bounty @ costco. Two capsules has over 20 billion live probiotic cultures and organisms. I took them when I had surgery last year and I believed they really helped with my speedy recovery!
