I know a lot of people will probably tell you different but my surgeon told me not to worry at all because liquid goes straight through you. Mine told me to drink as much Water and liquids as I wanted.

Relax, liquids typically go on thru without very much if any restriction. Things will change dramatically when you get to solid foods. Take advantage of the ease you can drink liquids and drink as much as you can. Lots of fluids is good for you. ;)

Also remember that you are still swollen and numb inside and might feel more of a restriction in a week or so, how fast did you drink it?

I just posted a similar question on the forum and was referred to this one. This is very helpful because I'm 5 days post op and was worried that I was taking in too much at a time.

Thank you!

I'm taking liquid Lortab for pain. 15ml every 4 hours and feel like I never had surgery! So happy to feel good. But also wondering what's wrong. Cause every weight loss attempt I have started I failed.

That's probably contributing to the ease, that numbs your tummy and may let you take in too much. I'd probably go slower than 11 oz in 40 minutes this close to surgery too. It'll all get figured out, also if you are feeling amazing you may want to start tapering off the Lortab because you could feel differently without it and you have to get used to getting fluids in without pain meds otherwise it'll be tough later.

Don't worry too much though, just keep doing the fluids often and slowly! Good luck!

Good thinking Becky! But don't most people have Lortab after surgery?

Definitely! But, if you are feeling good you can try to let up on it; it'll start to give you a feel for your real new tummy. It'll still be swollen so don't push it but I promise you will start to feel more full soon. You are just getting used to everything, everyone gets scared that they won't feel satisfied but liquids suck...it gets so much easier and much more satisfying as you graduate! Let your tummy tell you what it can and can't handle and don't stress...it'll all settle within a few weeks!

Deep breaths girlie...it's Water weight! Very common after surgery while your body is recovering. I promise it will come off so fast you won't even remember those 9 pounds!

I am on day 3 post op. I am able to get my Protein and Water in, with ease. My question is when will the abdomon swelling go down? Other than the swelling and rumbling, I am feeling good!

I'm jealous of you all that can get all of your Protein in already! :)

I'm 9 days post-op and the highest amount of Protein I have gotten in was 56 g. What are you drinking?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
