Running errands with my husband this morning and he decides he wants donuts. I made my Protein Shake before we left home thank God. When he got back into the truck the unbelievably sweet smell of the glaze almost made me hurl! Previously, i would have indulged in his sweet feast, but now.... I just roll the window down to keep from throwing my shake up

We went to clean out my son's college dorm room on Saturday. Of course we hit Outback because at 20, my poor son is just clueless. I packed my yogurt and tuna. They ordered their cheese fries, layered, extra bacon with 2 ranches. I was shockingly unaffected by them. Neither of them order a dinner that I would order so that too didn't phase me. My poor hubby really struggled with his meal because he felt so back that I was sitting there. But honestly, I was not phased at all which really excited me.

On the other hand, the previous weekend I had a meltdown over my hubby eating tortilla chips. Go figure.

I have been forcing myself to cook for my hubby and daughter to try to desensitize myself to smells and temptations.

Lol, I can imagine. My husband and daughter love to "take me out to eat". Especially now because no matter what I order they know that they will be eating the majority of it. Last night I cooked fish. I put 1/4 piece of fish in my plate and before I could finish it, my husband had eaten the rest of it. I told him, " This will be no fun if you gain what I lose."

Pre-surgery, it's hard to imagine how unappealing food will be for a little while. I couldn't imagine it! The first month or two everything smelled bad and even what I could eat tasted 'not right'. That helped me disconnect from my unhealthy relationship with food. I eat for fuel, not pleasure. Even now, a year later, what other people are eating doesn't even phase me! :-)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
