No Insurance for Life?

Has anyone found if you have Lapband surgery that you will never be able to be covered for health insurance if you ever lose your current coverage?

I've not heard of it being a major risk. Shouldn't be a problem. I believe "implant" would be a better risk than "morbid obesity".

Thanks Wheetsin.

I have a friend who is looking into getting the band (me too) and she works in a doctors office and has 3 people that have come into the office to see the doctor and she knew they had had the lapband done and all three of them said they found out the hard way that you can't get coverage after the surgery for any type of health insurance. 2 of them are not covered by any insurance any longer and one is covered because she went to work for a company that offered group insurance so there was no pre existing condition limit. I told her I wound come her to ask, you all know a lot of information.

The answers to insurance questions vary a lot depending on where in the U.S. you are. I would imagine that even in states where medical underwriting is allowed there is a high-risk pool for people who can't get private insurance on their own. The best thing to do is check with your state's department of insurance (or health, if they have jurisdiction) and find out what your rights are.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
