I am worried about the anesthesia and the post op anxiety from it. Is there anything that the doctor can give to help with the anxiety do you think?

Also I'm just anxious to get the surgery done, its coming up really fast and I feel like I have so many questions that are still unanswered....

If you still have alot of unanswered questions you need to have a talk with your Dr. BEFORE you have surgery, so that you go in knowing what to expect before , during and after. This is a life changing surgery to get you healthy, so you need to go in having done your research. Make that ASAP!! Also, the more you know the less anxiety you will have about the whole thing. Mine was sooooo easy, but i also had done my homework before, so if i had run into a problem, I would know when or if to contact my Dr. Good luck to you !!

I have been doing my research online and I have found it to be very helpful! I meet with him on the 9th and I will ask him more questions then. Thank you for the advice :)

Jennabean, I was SO anxious as well! Heck, I even gave my husband my funeral directions in the event I expired! But I knew I wanted the surgery to get healthier or I wouldn't live long enough to see some grandchildren!

I asked lots of questions and the doctors were very helpful. I prayed and did relaxation exercises while I waited to go into surgery. Honestly, it was the easiest anesthetic I've ever had. After the surgery, if you get anxious, ask for an Ativan. Works like a charm. I am down 37.5 pounds since my pre op diet! Worth every minute and every dollar!! Good luck!

Thank you so much for your support!! That's so awesome for you :) I'm so excited to see myself in a year!! I know I can do anything for a short period of time! I decided to watch the whole surgery on YouTube, it's really not that bad.... Seems so minimal.. But it's the being put to sleep then waking up. Ugh I had my wisdom teeth done on anesthesia and I woke up in a total anxiety attack.... I just don't want that to happen and idk if adivan will work as I already take it for anxiety. But who knows lol

Maybe it was the type of anesthetic used. Talk to your dr about this and they can let you know what to expect and what they can do to help. Take care and keep posting!

I am so there with you. I am nervous too, its still surgery and complications can still occur no matter how many questions, research, or discussion with previous operated people. I am trying to relax by doing things that keep me calm, for me its movies and listening to music. So guess what I am doing for the next few days, yep sticking to enjoying relaxing movies that takes my mind off it. Plus spending time with my family.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
