Well I start pre op diet tomorrow so I'm going to have a food funeral tonight with some nachos, I wanted to go to my favorite restaurant but can't make it so tonight I will have some nachos for the last time because who know when I will eat them again, what food did you give a funeral.......

I had many food funerals. I feel a little silly now as each of those foods makes its way into my diet on a regular basis but in tiny portions. But damn I enjoyed my food funerals.

I went to Red Lobster and tonight it's pizza, then on the diet I go. My surgeon will cancel if we gain any weight before surgery. I am actually looking forward to this diet, it has a big reward at the end. Good luck to everyone!!!

Nah, no need to do that! I promise you'll have all your favorite foods again, just in much smaller portions! :) I'm 5 months out and the only "favorite" foods I haven't had again are Pasta, rice, and a fully loaded cheeseburger. I go to Red Lobster and have steamed crab legs on a regular basis (with butter!!), have modified versions of pizza which are just as good as regular, and generally find ways to have my treats and keep losing.

Everyone says this is a lifestyle change so make sure the changes you are making fit your lifestyle. There is no one around, not even very thin people and people who have lots tons of weight, who don't have some version of their favorites one in awhile. :) Black and white thinking about "good and bad foods" will lead to a sense of deprivation, loss, and resentment which will ultimately lead to overeating on the things you love, instead of allowing yourself to have them in reasonable amounts.

Good luck with your surgery! You'll do great!!

Have a food funeral if you need to, and enjoy it! Just don't allow yourself to believe that the sleeve will rid you of cravings or eliminate your ability to overeat. I am 4.5 months out, and it takes a lot of work to eat under 800 calories every day. It may take me longer to eat too many calories, butiti can be done! Sadly, the sleeve is not a magic pill.

I did too I think I ate everything under the Sun and put on weight before surgery just because I knew I couldn't eat it again for like a year

i have been having some small food celebrations and i plan a last food funeral the day or two prior to starting the 2 wk pre-op.

even though i KNOW i can have most foods again, i am really approaching this as a NEW START and don't want to just resume eating junk, even in small amounts. i really plan to try and walk away from a lot of the stuff i eat now and start new, with eating real, whole foods as much as possible.

so for me, a food funeral is hopefully really that and i am hopeful that i will be saying goodbye for good to most of the stuff that got me to where i am right now....and hello to healthy good nutrients, whole foods, fuel for my new body!

I said good-bye to McDonalds, Dunkin' Donuts, pizza, churrescaria (sp?) restaurants, key lime pie, sushi....

I realized that eating McDonalds is a lot like bad sex.... You don't even want half of what you get, the part you DO want is overdone and poorly executed, and in the end you're just left sticky and alone and a little confused.

;)

This was my approach, too. Most of my funerals were for fast-food, junk-food, buffet places, and Desserts.

God every time I read it--especially the "sticky alone and a little confused" part, it gets funnier and funnier!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
