Will some insurance cover plastics?

Recommended Posts

A childhood friend of mines told me that some insurance (even medicaid) will pay for some plastics. Even Lipo. Is this true? Have anyone ever heard of this?

Yes, if there is a medical necessity. They will not pay for cosmetic work, but most will pay if the Dr determines there is a medical necessity.

I have Anthem BC and I know for a fact mine won't. It is clearly stated in the policy that, even though they do pay for WLS, under no circumstances will they cover any type of cosmetic or reconstructive surgery. Even if your doctor finds it medically necessary they will not cover it. I absolutely do not have the funds to afford it myself, therefore I will be stuck with whatever I end up with. I decided in the beginning that losing the weight would be worth the hassle of the skin.

Wow, that seems crazy. What if you are in a car accident and your Dr determines a need for some form of reconstructive surgery? Sometimes I just have to shake my head at what is defined as "insurance". Know what I mean?

There is a difference between reconstruction and elective cosmetic surgery

I believe that was the point I made in my initial post. If the Dr determines there is a medical need, most insurance companies should cover it. There are times when the excess skin is causing other issues. Again, medical need, not cosmetic.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
