Amoxicillin at 10 days post op?

Recommended Posts

Has anyone been prescribed amoxicillin shortly after having the sleeve? Just curious about the side effects...to be honest I wouldn't mind diarrhea about now but am kind of scared of the cramping & wondering about dehydration....good times ;)

Have you ever been prescribed this before? Does the prescribing physician know you were just sleeved? I am assuming they do. I wouldn't worry so much about the cramping as I would about a generally known side effect of amoxicillin in women and that would be yeast infections as it does throw off the bacteria balance in your body. It is often recommended that women eat yogurt when taking amoxicillin, so, that may need to be your intake for the next week. Water and yogurt.

Otherwise, taking amoxicillin post sleeve should be fine. I was 1 month post before having it prescribed after having another (unrelated) procedure.

Oh, I've had it before & have experienced their side effects (yeast included) . I'm trying to eat yogurt but can't get much down. I wasn't sure if it had any other issues since you're supposed to take it after eating...which I can't really do. Normally I get a scrip for diflucan with amoxicillin but the dr didn't think it would be good for me this early out.

I got the scrip because of bronchitis...which is a ton of fun this early ;). And seeing your name is PDXman you know that I'm missing out on all this fabulous weather....

Ah, yes, I see your Dr was Emma Patterson. I went to her WLS seminar 3 years ago. Yesterday was incredible ... too bad it isn't going to last. I was a chronic bronchitis suffer. Actually haven't had it since sleeve surgery. Perhaps just being healthier overall.

Well, yogurt, amoxicillin, then Water. Just keep trying to get it all in.

Since your name is Goonie, are you in the Astoria area?

My FIL is a big Goonies fan. Has gone to some of the events they occasionally have.

I'm on the Beaverton/Portland border. I'm going to be organizing the BariatricPal local meetings for the Portland Metro, so hopefully you can join us. I have yet to nail down a location, but I will let you know when I do.

If you can get to a local health food or whole food store, check out the probiotic products in their refrigerated section. There are ones that have 30+ strains of Probiotics instead of the 1-2 strains in yogurt and at MUCH higher levels.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
