June 2007 Bandsters

Suzzzie ~ Tell me about "Lift like a man look like a goddess". Where did you find it? I'll have to google it because it interests me.

Steph ~ I have absolutely no upper arm strength. I'm hoping the swimming will bring some strength back, but I think I need more. I just can't afford a gym at this time and with 3 kids ~ where would I find the time? I do have some small hand weights and resistance bands. Can you give me ideas too? I'll PM you my email if you want to give ideas and kick my booty too. I have no idea how to even text on my phone.

I had a small scale victory today. I will be changing my stats because I'm now down to 191. I hope it's the start of a downward slide. Oh yeah ~ my band seems to be a bit less restrictive today. I'm definitely having to watch the amounts and chewing better. It was a HUGE change with this fill.

Get a ticker, I got mine from tickerfactory.com.

Right click on your ticker (not the code...but that actual pic of the ticker)

Copy

come to lapbandtalk and log in

click Edit Profile - right hand side of screen

edit signature - left side of screen

paste it

save

hope this helps

GraceUtah ~ Thank you very much for the ticker help! That is much easier than what I was trying to do.

Just got back from the pool. Swam 1 1/2 miles in an hour. I love the Water. Just wish I wasn't allergic to the chlorine. I was seriously red and itchy tonight. Got a lot of questions from the older gals that were there. I won't let a little itching stop me though.

bcrazy7 ~ I have gone from one extreme to the next since being banded. I use to have irritable bowel and now I wish I could go. I've increased my Fiber and still get little relief. I'd probably lose a good 3 pounds if I could just go pooh. I just found a new item this - Kelloggs All Bran is making a fiber drink mix - they have pink lemonade and Ice Tea flavor. I really like the lemonade one and it seems to have helped some. There is 10 g of fiber in each packet.

I have found that eating Activia yoguart does the trick....If I don't have that, I eat kashi go lean Cereal, or green leafy veggies.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
