Oh - great article! Thanks for sharing Beckie!

I'm HORRIBLE at drinking Water. I've recommitted this week to do at least 6 cups a day (soo hard - sooo many trips to the potty). I feel like I'm floating!

Suzzzie, any word on Asher? I'm thinking of you. I know it's not tough. I had to put my angel pomeranian "Wendy" down while in a high-risk pregnancy and try not to get upset...that didn't quite happen - nearly 3 years ago. Just wanted to let you know I'm thinking of you.

O2B, I am so sorry to hear about your grandfather. My prayers go out to you and your family.

I go to the doc today. Going to see if I can get a tiny fill. I think I'm about to the sweet point, but not quite. I'm scared of getting over-filled, but I know that at the rate I'm going, maintaining basically, I'm not going to get anywhere.

Thanks for thinking of my doggie! He's doing really good. They iniatially thought it was either a raging UTI or kidney failure, then by Saturday evening they thought he might have bladder or prostate cancer. I was so upset that my band tightened up and I was basically all liquids all weekend long! (didn't lose anything though!) So anyway, Asher had surgery yesterday morning. The Vet said the only way to really tell what the masses in his abdomen were would be to open him up. :) So anyway, she got in there and cut out a huge mass from his bladder. And then he also had several 'crystals' (beginings of stones) that had infected the lining of his bladder. So she cut those out. She did say that there is a place in the back of the bladder that is too far back in the pelvic canal that she couldn't get to, so not all of the mass was removed. She didn't see any cancer cells in the samples she inspected, but it sending the specimans off to a path lab to be looked at more closely. Better safe than sorry, especially since some of the mass remains in his bladder.

Today he is doing good. Mom says that he is eating and drinking, they've removed the IV fluids and the catheter, and he PEED today for the first time in several days (the catheter was just draining his bladder for him, so it is an awesome thing that he can pee again!)

Hopefully he'll get to come home either tomorrow or Thursday, just depends on how he does. Mom has cleaned out the little room of her garage and placed a couple old blankets in a kiddie pool for him. We've got another round of snowy cold crap here and she wants him to be warmer and more protected from the elements while he is still healing from his surgery.

I'm so blessed with a great mom! She is footing the entire bill for his care, which is at about $1500 now.

As for ME, even though my band was tight from stress all weekend, I still went in for a little tweek fill on Monday afternoon. Got 0.5cc added, which I think puts me at either 7 or 8 (can't remember if I was at 6.5 or 7.5 from before) and today I feel fine. Liquids go down well. I'm supposed to be on liquids, but ate a few potato chips this afternoon at work before I remembered. Lol! They went down fine anyway. Ooopsie. We'll see how it goes, I might be calling for another one in a few weeks if the weight doesn't start falling off! I've been stalled, and now have gained about 5 pounds from what my ticker says. I refuse to change it though. Haha.

Hope you all are doing well.

Suzz, I'm glad Asher is okay. Poor doggie! How far away is he from you? Our pets are like our kids!

Rhonda - Asher lives with my mom about 85 miles away from me. I feel bad that I haven't been able to go see him at the Vets... kinda like visiting a sick famiy memeber at the hospital. Lol. But soon enough he'll be back to his old self and I'll take him for a LONG walk! I could never walk him for very long before, cause I was fat(ter) and lazy. Haha!

Hello all, I have been busy lately and have not posted, just reading the last couple of days!!

Rhonda sorry to hear about your grandfather. losing a relative is so hard!

Suzzie glad to hear Asher is doing better. I have two dogs and they are very special to me. I consider them a part of our family! how is you fill feeling today?

Stef and Rhonda I bought three of the Supreme Bars, Carb Cons, at the Vit. Shoppe. They only had caramel ones. Boy are they BIG! I could not beleive how heavy they were too. It takes me half the day to eat one. I am not sure it is the bar, but I don't feel so good after eating it, stomach cramps and potty issues. Anyone else having this? They taste real good, but I guess I will try the last one in a few days to see if there is any stomach response. If so, I guess I wont be eating them.

If you aren't used to getting that much Protein in, you will have stomach distress for a bit and it will pass. Another item called CLA would greatly improve those cirumstances. Taking two in the morning and two in the evening (with food) will not only coat your stomach and make your tummy happy, but that same coating function works to ensure that you have normal, regular bm's. All these things are wonderful, but the main purpose of CLA is to ensure that your body does not store excess fat and helps it pass through as waste product. All CLA is bottled differently, but the consensus is that 4G per day (2am and 2pm) is the optimal level for fat loss to occur 24/7! GNC has it on sale right now for 20% off until the 7th, too.

Stef thanks, I never heard of that. I will check it out. I enjoyed the bar overall, I just had a stomach discomfort. I will make a trip to GNC.

Squeeeeaaakkkkkk!! Getting a little concerned here. Yesterday was a toughie (making grandpa's arrangements and viewing) and I didn't eat much but Protein Shake for b-fast and a bite of Protein Bar for lunch. I was hungry from about 2:00 on, but had that stuff to do. We went to dinner and I had about 2 potstickers and one bite of chicken and I was done. That would be great but dummy (me) tried the dry fried green Beans too and was pbing slime x 3. For the rest of the night I was stuck. I sipped some Water and it squeaked. I am having coffee this morning. I think it could be stress, and today will probably not be much better (taking kids for viewing). Should I just do liquids for a few days? I do not not not want to have to go for an unfill.

LOL guys! (And Suze!) Yeah, its no surprise to yall that I go a little overboard on the researching! Hey...at least I don't just put stuff (supplements) in my mouth blindly, right? Besides, I'm a knowledge FREAK, reading FREAK...and always will be. What can I say? I'm a NERD.

O2B - sounds like liquids would be a good idea. The stress definitely seems to tighten up the band. And, I know tears do as well {{hugs}}

You are in my prayers

Big hugs Rhonda!! I'm so sorry for your loss!!! I know that the stress from my dog being sick made my band very tight and I had about 2 days where I ate (drank) only Protein Shakes, and they were slow going. Hang in there, and take it easy!

So sorry to hear about your grandpa. I had my band tighten up completely one time and it was no fun - had to go for an emergency unfill. I think it would be a great idea to stay on liquids for a few days, then start testing it with mushies before going back to solids (that's what I do now when I get really tight). I think mine is due to stress and ice cold liquids which I no longer do.

My prayers are with you in losing your grampa. I can't imagine what I will do when I lose mine. I agree that it is likely the stress that is tightening you up, so take it easy on yourself.

You, too, Suze...I hope pup is up and running cirlcles soon. I know all too well that our furry friends are very much members of our families.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
