beckiet 0 Posted January 16, 2008 I've added Wombat, Suzzzie and Steph to my SparkPeople page. I'm doing good tracking so far, but this is only day 2. I zumba'd last night...might have been a little early after my surgery but they didn't tell me not to. I want to get back on that exercise wagon. It felt so good! Some of the moves are a good challenge. Tomorrow is Zumba again and then Saturday one of my friends and I are getting together to do an exercise video and then maybe hit a thrift clothing store that has their winter merchandise 50% Sat. only. Hopefully they count slacks/pants in that "winter merchandise"...even some light sweaters wouldn't hurt. karla, we've all been there...or many of us have. I'm just now getting out of that situation, losing 1/2 pound, gaining 1/2 pound...losing 1 total pound a month. I'd been doing that since mid-October. Best advice I can offer, keep positive and keep track of what you're doing. I think before there were days I wasn't eating enough. Good luck!
o2bthin 0 Posted January 16, 2008 Java, the wonton bowls are in the frozen section. Mine aren't by the oriental foods, they are closer to the shrimp and chicken, etc. I haven't tried the seasoned chicken. I just buy the chicken tenders in the big frozen bags and use them for almost everything, and we buy the roasters too. Beckie, what is Zumba??? So far so good on my new diet of solids. I have been getting restriction on almost everything I eat. Since I don't want to do a Protein Shake, I'm usually not having much more than coffee in the mornings and my Vitamins, etc. Around lunch, I have something like leftover meat and a salad. It's hard to get down without a lot of burping, but no pb so far. I'm amazed because I thought I didn't have enough of a fill. Night is the worst though, because it's typically harder to eat solids at first, then I get the munchies and do myself in with chips and cheese. I wish there was some sort of closing mechanism for my mouth after 7:00 p.m. I need to stop watching Gordon Ramsey on my DVR and watch Biggest Losers instead! LOL I haven't lost anything yet, but I'm going to stick with it.
bigbaby 4 Posted January 16, 2008 Beckie--I looked up Zumba and saw a special on TV during the Christmas break. It looks so fun. I asked my gym if the would get a teacher. they said they can't find a certified Zumba teacher. rhonda--Zumba is like latin dance moves that are aerobic. (At least that's what it looks like) Throw the bad foods out---out of sight---out of mind---out of mouth!!!

o2bthin 0 Posted January 16, 2008 Throw the bad foods out!! Hmmm! I think I have a talent for making any food into a bad food. Take Pop Secret 100 calorie bags for example. I add butter and parmesan to that! sugar free Jello is MUCH better with whipping cream on it! Seriously, have any of you faced the challenge of purging your pantry with kids in the house? I would throw out all rice, sugar, pancake mix, Syrup, jams, white flour, cocoa, etc. if I could get away with it.

karla 0 Posted January 17, 2008 Thanks for the advice everyone! I am loving "The Daily Plate"! It is really helping me keep on track and exercise more. I'm up to 240 crunches every morning, I'm back in the pool swimming laps (used to swim competive in H.S. - haven't been in a pool since 1990 and the beach is out of the question), I'm even walking at an indoor track. I did do my measurements and I guess I'm losing inches rather than pounds so I can't complain too much. I just want the numbers to be smaller. I want this fat to melt off! The lowest I've ever been since H.S. is 180 (in 1999) when I did Weight Watchers. I want to get below that. My biggest goal ~ weigh less than my little sister and my mother. (At least that's what it looks like) Rhonda, BB is right...it's latin dancing aerobics. I absolutely love it! I used to do Richard Simmon's Sweatin' to the Oldies back in High School...and I never really thought that I could do the moves to Zumba...but I can. There are several in my class who are large like me. www.zumba.com even offers a DVD set for workouts. BB, where are you from? The group that teaches us here at work (in KC) is called Casa De Fitness and the girls are just wonderful. One of them through diet as well lost over 80 pounds with diet and Zumba...she is an inspiration to me. I want to go tonight, but we got 4 inches of snow at my farm last night and unfortunately in the mad rush to carry my 2 toddlers to the car without getting their little feetsies wet (lol) etc. I didn't pack my gym bag. While my slacks would be okay...my snow boots would probably be a hindrance. Who knows...I might try it anyways.
