I'm usually one of the lurkers but I have to tell you, I enjoy reading all your posts. I recently had my third fill and could notice a big difference! I don't want to eat. It's almost like I had to remind myself to eat something. I have also had a couple episodes of eating too fast/too much and getting that pain in chest feeling which I relieved by, uh, releasing some of the excess food. Yuck-but it made me feel better. My husband has been a little concerned. I told him that I just need to learn how to or what to eat since this last fill.

Was there a certain fill for you all when you noticed a big difference?

Now, my ah-ha moment...last night we were at a New Year's Party. I had wore a short sleeve shirt thinking that it would be warm at my friends house however, I was cold. I was sitting on the couch and looked over to see my son's long sleeve shirt, size XL. I picked it up thinking at least it would cover my arms, however, it not only covered my arms but wrapped all the way around me and buttoned clear down!!!

AH-HA!!! Surprise-not only to me but to my family also. Now, there's a little voice in my head saying, well, maybe it was a really big XL or maybe it was sized wrong but nonetheless, it was an XL.

Happy New Year!

Thats awesome. COngrats to you!!

As far as fills - I had my 3rd fill in Sept - and STILL have great restriction... as long as I eat the RIGHT foods. And yeah, I totally don't care about eating anymore - unless it is sugar crap. Lol. If it is chocolate or sugar or whatever, I"m totally all over it, and those foods slide through my band without any difficulty at all. But yeah. I'm making myself eat chicken tonight rather than the chocolate coated pretzels i really want. Lol. I've eaten about 5 bites of chicken and I'm DONE. :faint:

I'm at my 4th fill and have had trouble eating. So what was my solution? Eat liquids and soft foods and crap. BAD IDEA! I have recently started the solid Protein again and I can only eat 5-6 bites as well!! I'm starting to lose again. Darn shame I didn't figure this out 2-3 weeks ago - I would have made my NYr goal!!

Yay on losing again Wombat!

I'd considered getting another fill (had 3rd fill in Sept!) but I've been very careful with food choices the past couple days and notice that as long as I chose the right foods that I still have really great restriction. I'll wait it out a few more weeks and see how I feel then.

Getting back to work and routine will be helpful.I wish I could have the feeling of not wanting to eat. I am not sure I will ever feel that!

Suzzzie if I eat right and slow I am fine too, it is only when I eat to fast, dont' chew and eat things that I know will not go down is when I have issues. Unfortunetly I know the bad stuff I can eat, I am hoping to change that around now.

Rennee, GREAT NSV! that is such a good feeling. I was depressed yesterday for the opposite effect. I can tell I cheated over the holidays, my clothes were not as loose as they were before my vacation! I really need to focus.

Have a great day!

My church starting 21-days of Change (The Daniel Fast)...It's primarily fruits/veggies (no sugar or sugar substitute).

This is going to difficult for me because I NEVER drink Water, I substitute Crystal Light for water...but I am going to try hard. I think that eating veggie chili will help me. I'm also going to look into eating stir fried veggies (I'm worried about the sauce).

Any suggestions?

My church does The Daniel Fast every year. I felt great when I did it last year, my first time. The hardest thing for me was to give up Starbucks...well, coffee all together was rough. I should have stuck with it! To add pizzazz to stir fry, you can use Chinese Five Spice powder, Braggs Seasoning spray, low sodium soy or worchestershire sauces, finely grated ginger/garlic/onion. You are right in that the prepared sauces are not good for you...all the sodium and sugar is enough to drop a horse! Good luck!

Thanks...those are EXCELLENT tips....

Where do you get the chinese 5 spice powder?

Someone else told me to get my Protein from Boca and Morning Star veggie products. I'm going to the store to check them out today.

Any other suggestions? What should I have for Breakfast?

The Chinese Five Spice powder I found at a Farmers/Whole Foods market. The Boca and Morning Star products are carried at costco, also. (I'm a HUGE Costco fan, in case y'all hadn't noticed!) For breakfast I ate fruit and whole grain toast with Peanut Butter that I made myself. (VERY fast to make in the Bullet or mini food processor...I'm no gourmet, trust me!) A lot of folks had oatmeal for breakfast, but I despise oatmeal. They even ate the flavored packets of oatmeal, as long as it was prepared with Water. And don't forget you can have any whole grains, brown rice, seeds/nuts, and beans/legumes.

Okay, here's a whacked story for y'all...I've been having MAJOR trouble sleeping lately, so I took an Ambien last night. Waited an hour, and it wasn't working, so I took another...which I had never done before. The next thing I know, I am waking up in bed this morning when my son comes in for me to take him to school. I feel pretty darn good, though, from the good sleep I got.

I'm driving home from the school when I realize I have no clue how I got from sitting in the living room to bed. Apparently, I went to 7-11 with hubby last night on an errand and got a pint of Bluebell Buttered Pecan ice cream. Then I proceeded to eat the entire pint before crashing in the recliner. Hubby got me to bed, thank goodness. He says he doesn't think I even knew who he was last night.

Pretty scary. I won't be taking two Ambien again, for sure. And how much does it suck to eat an entire pint of ice cream and have no memory of it?!?!?

Morning Star is way better than Boca - IMO. I love their chicken patties (OK, fake chicken...) Garden Burger is great also!

Stef, I posted on another thread about the ice cream/ambien thing. Its just too crazy. BE CAREFUL with that medication!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
