So......about that exercise challenge.

I got in 10 min on my ET (eliptical trainer) before I pooped out....and was getting rained on. Hubby moved it back under cover but that was a good enough excuse to stop for the day.

I don't know how to get a challenge going.....but I need some motivation people!

SUZZIE - Tonight I made some mozzarella stuffed meatballs using ground turkey. So yummy - but I only ate 3 1/2 before I couldn't get another bite it. (they were approx 1 inch in size.) And I made about 40 of them, so by golly I'll be eating those tings for a while!!! :hungry:

Okay, THAT sounds like a recipe that I NEED! Care to share?

Speaking of not being able to eat things - any one else experiencing food wasting?!?! I hate to let things go to waste, but I cannot eat everything before it goes bad. I've never seen my freezer and fridge so full. help.gif I've had to throw out lettuce and tomatoes and peppers and milk and chicken... crazy! I didn't even really go grocery shopping this week, except for milk, eggs, and the ground turkey. I might start saving money now! Haha!

I have the same problem with food wasting. And yes, the fridge is so full! I hate throwing that money away!

1 lb ground turkey 1 cup dry breadcrumbs 1 tablespoon cayenne pepper 1 tablespoon garlic, minced 1 egg 4 ounces mozzarella cheese

  1. pre-heat over to 400F degrees.
  2. cut mozzarella cheese into very small cubes.
  3. mix breadcrumbs (I use pepperage farms herb crusted stuffing mix) and cayenne pepper in large bowl.
  4. add 1 egg and minced garlic to breadcrumbs.
  5. fold in ground turkey.
  6. may need to add more breadcrumbs to desired texture.
  7. roll meatballs to about 1 inch size.
  8. make hole in each meatball and add small cube of mozzarella cheese to middle, then pinch meat around and roll to fully cover cheese.
  9. Place on lighty greased baking pan.
  10. bake at 400F degrees for 15-20 minutes, or until meatballs fully cooked.

Lol That was easy!! I post recipes I make up on Recipezaar: Where the World's Recipes Are. so all I had to do was cut/paste! yay!!

I'm an amature cook though, so if ya'll see anything that could be changed to improve it, let me know!!

thanks guys for the well wishes for my husband. He didn't take his Carafate at all today and felt much better, he said the medicine was as bad as the pain! He was able to eat broccoli cheese Soup this evening without pain, so I think he is almost there. I am just not sure when to tell him to try more solid food, I am so afraid of him relapsing! He is worried about not having any restriction since his band is empty. He sees the doc on Wed for his regular appointment, so I think he should just stay on soft things until then. Easy for me to say, since I am eating normal.

I finally had a day without hunger today. I realized when I was finally hungry at dinner time, that I had eaten only 2 chicken nuggets all day. I am still struggling with snacking though, I pulled out the nuts and granola this evening even though I was not hungry. I could only eat a few though. I have 7.5cc in my 10cc band and feel like I am about at my sweet spot. HANG in THERE everyone - I really thought the band was not going to work for me, but I almost believe it will now.

Suzzie - I am going to have my husband make those meatballs! They would be great as appetizers for a party.

Toni - thanks I definitely feel better and can't wait to move out of the morbidly obese category!

SUZZIE - The recipe looks fantastic! Do you add any sauce to them? I might need to disguise them to keep my kids from knowing they are turkey! LOL I have already pulled off turkey tacos without them knowing, but the turkey burgers failed miserably. They knew right away something was up when they saw the color. So picky! I know if they had tasted them before seeing them, that they would have liked them!

I didn't add any sauce, but you could if you wanted to. Let me know what you try, and if you like it.

I've been reading a lot lately, but I haven't posted in quite a while. I finally have news worth posting! I got my second fill today. My first fill was 7 ccs in an 11cc band. Today, he first added 2 more ccs and did the barium swallow test. It went through kind of quickly, so he put one more cc in and did the test again. This time it went through pretty slowly. I now have 10 ccs total. I was already excited that I may be at my sweet spot, but things were even better when I started drinking liquids. Previously, I've been able to drink as much as I want as quickly as I wanted with no problem. Now I can swallow 4-5 gulps of Water and feel that I need to stop. No pain, no discomfort, just a feeling of enough or it may come back up! I was banded on June 1st and was beginning to think I may be one of those people that the band would not help! The only signs I had before today that I even had a band was if I didn't chew meat well I would have the golf ball feeling. I've never felt the "I've had enough" feeling before today. I'M SO EXCITED!!!!

You go Lisa, sounds like you might have hit the spot. Can't wait till that happens, called my Doc and begged for another fill so I go Friday for number 3.

Steph, it is quiet, I hope it's not because people aren't doing well. I am going to do better after my next fill, I can feel it in my bones (band). We are heading into summer and I so wanted to have a little less of me to drag around.!!

I wish everyone would chime in good or bad. I look forward to hearing from everyone.

My day of no hunger was just that - one day. It is my TOM so I am starving, but I can't eat very much because of my restriction. Which is good and bad, I guess! I have had this vague ache in my back and around my ribs all day. I can eat and drink, so I don't think anything is stuck, but it feels a lot like the day I ate bread. I had grilled chicken last night that I once again didn't chew well the first couple of bites, but I was able to get 3/4 of it in over 30 minutes or so. I wonder if that is just taking some time to pass??

DH update: back to normal - which for him means excessive sliming when he wakes up and not being able to eat until he drinks hot liquid. But at least the pain is gone. Any suggestions for hot liquids other than coffee or tea? I am afraid the coffee is doing more damage and I know tea can also.

It very well may be that your food is taking time to pass. With me, EVERYTHING takes time to pass...too much time. I'm taking every Fiber supplement I can get my hands on, too. Doc says it's common, but it sure would be nice to be regular again.

Hot Water with lemon/lime/orange is good. I prefer lime or orange. And it's good for you, too!

My update is I can't seem to get a meal in. I'm still not past the Protein part to try veggies. I can't seem to eat more than 3 bites of anything solid and then I want to pb it. I can eat yogurt, sf pudding, cottage cheese, etc., but no solids. I am chewing well. If I stop before the discomfort begins, it's about 3 bites worth, and then I am holding my breath that I don't slime. Then if it stays, it takes about 1 hour and then I'm hungry again. I'm going to go try to eat a few more bites of dinner now. I'm giving it time and trying to be patient.

Congrats on your nice big fill Lisa!!

Does anyone else have a love/hate feeling about their band? I finally have restriction after my first fill last week, and am having a hard time getting used to it. I used to take huge bites and hardly chew and I could be done with a meal in 5 minutes, bad I know, but I got used to it with my job, no regular lunch breaks, just a few minutes here and there to scarf food down. It is sooooo hard to take 1/2 tsp bites and chew 30 times and take 20-30 minutes to eat. Anyone else have weird headaches when they are eating sometimes, it's almost like a mild brainfreeze type ache. Anyway, just thought I'd post since it is so quiet in here.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
