June 2007 Bandsters

Recommended Posts

I know how important they are bigsexy, it just litterally makes me gag to chew and swallow them. I have had better luck with liquid vitamins, so I wondered if anyone else took them.

I guess I better just ask the doctor about it. Does it help to just take 2 childrens Vitamins? Seems like there wouldn't be the correct kinda vitamins and minerals... I guess I never looked.

Danielle,

My doctor told me to take 1 Flinstone's chewable Vitamin A day. I put it on my back teeth, chew and take a sip a water--it's gone. The bottle actually says that 1 Vitamin is an adult dose.

Hi Ange

Pleased that you are home and everything is going well! Yes, I was hungry not too long after surgery... not really starving or anything but I think after so long dieting and on Optifast I was more bored than anything else! After about a week I introduced some really TINY amounts of yummy soft food (cream cheese, feta cheese, pesto, different yoghurts, creamy Soups (strained)) and really savoured the flavour in my mouth making sure everything was very liquidified before it went down... this helped me a lot and really made me appreciate food a lot more :-)

It is very normal to feel hunger until to have adequate fills etc so this time really calls for good choices and willpower... but look at it this way, it's the last time you'll ever have to diet so hard!!

Dan

Hi Dan,

I talked to you in Dr. Krahn's office on Tuesday before our surgery's. You told me about this web site! Thanks, I've been getting alot of info from it!

So, how are you doing? I'm just tired of the liquids but I am starting to feel much better. I have been walking around the house and plan to walk outside tonight with my daughter.

My appt is at 2:00 so I doubt if we'll see each other.

We can compare note on the website.

Toni - I know that ole low-down costco chocolate cake all too well, but I had to give it up. I found a new love! The Cheesecake Factory has the most divine Chocolate Truffle Tower. It is 9lbs of layer after layer of chocolate cake & ganache frosting topped with chocolate shavings.........just thought I'd share..... (ducking out)

Nina

Miss Nina....you're killing me!!!!! :biggrin1: WTG with your weight loss and fitting back into your ole clothes....all that spinning must be helping bunches!!! Good Going!!!!! ;):clap2::D

I'll give those a try...Thanks

How about the pb'ing or slime, have you done that yet?

Thanks for the replys everyone!

Paula

Hi Paula,

If you check back a ways on the posts, you can see my icky confession on sliming. It happened the day after my fill from eating chicken too quickly/too big of bites. MY FAULT! I also slimed on a few french fries and a lean pocket. Guess bread and ff's are not band-friendly for me. I had no PBing or Sliming prior to being filled. I did have vomiting, but it was related to a Migraine I had.

Let me know if you have any more questions!

Cheers,

Toni

I am now 5 days out and don't feel too bad. I still feel a little sore mostly on my left side (port side) I have a park near my house and it's about 3/4 of a mile from my house, around the park then back to my house. I have been trying to do that about 3-5 times a day. I have been working around the house, just not lifting any big stuff. I only take pain meds and night with the sleeping aid the doc gave me. I don't feel much pain just take the meds because I have them sitting there.

Madero: What time was your surgery? What day/time did you get to go home? THey made me stay over night till about noon on friday. But everyone at rancho was super cool and gave me alot of help anytime I asked for somthing. What did you think about Saint B? Anyhow I will talk to ya all later

Dan

I am definitely looking forward to a glass of wine, but I'm waiting until I can eat regular food again...

There seem to be a lot of people who drink wine and they can handle it fine. I would say take it slow until you see how high your tolerance is

Just checking in. We are now all officially banded! I am still on liquids.....I am at the "add protein" stage, but I've had it all along because of hunger. July 9 is my "solids" day.

I got an elliptical trainer and started out on that yesterday, with 10 minutes and boy am I sore!

Vitamin Update! I bought some Flinstones gummy vitamins and chocolate Viactives tonight. Boy, its going to be much easier to take those than those yucky chalky things... yuck! The gummies aren't the greatest, not going to be eating them for the fun of it, but pretty good. And the Viactive is really good, I am going to think of them as little chocolate treats! ha ha ha!

Good Night June Bugs! (PS I think that should offically be our "name!"):biggrin1:

I can't wait until I get to eat something other than liquids... I am so hungry all the time! My post-op visit is scheduled for 7/11 and it sure seems like an eternity until then

Rhonda, I was thinking of trying the elliptical too this week but am a bit afraid. I wasn't sure if that motion would be good for my healing. Did your Dr. suggest it?

Thanks,

Dawn

I agree with BigBaby! I take ONE Flintstones vitamin daily. Also for Calcium, I take 2 TUMS twice a day. I think I have forgotten to take them a couple times, but mostly all is good.

Well, I am officially filled now. It was a little stange, but definately bearable. I did have her deaden the area first, but still seemed to feel a lot of stinging and pressure. It took her awhile to find the opening for the port, and she puts a lot of pressure on the area. I almost felt like she was going to shove the needle through my back... I am still kind of tender in the stomach area, which she said was normal. It hasn't been a month yet since the surgery. She told me the next one will be much easier, since I will not be so tender. I suppose it took her 2 or 3 minutes of searching once she got the needle in. I would definately recommend having the lidocaine to deaden the area for the first fill.

When she was done she had me drink a small glass of Water, just to make sure it would go down ok. That's it.

I can only have liquids for 24 hours, then go back to eating regular. I figure after the last month, 24 hours is nothing.

She told me that she put in 3 cc.'s of saline. My band holds 10.

I had lost 8 pounds since surgery. She said that was great, right on schedule. She said the time after surgery usually isn't a good losing weight time.

I also met with the dietician. She just gave me some meal plans. I can eat pretty much whatever I want now. She said it is important to start with the meat, twice a day, for protien. She also showed me what the correct portion sizes are. Now, who ever eats 1 portion of Pasta. That will be a hard one. I do not have to drink the protien anymore, thank

goodness. I hate those things. She told me I should be having about 40 grams of protien right now. She said with what I ate yesterday, I am

not too far from getting that.

So, that was it. Nothing too bad.

I will be anxious to see if I get the full feeling tomorrow when I can eat food. Hope so. Will let you know how eating goes.

And my fill went very much the same today, except I received nothing to deaden the area. It was amazing how much pressure she put on that needle! But just a little stinging was all. Then I had to drink barium and they took pictures, and I got copies again. I think I'm going to start a weight loss journey scrapbook! LOL I received 3 CC's in my band also.

I'm ready for the next fill! :whoo:

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
