I am 5 days out and so glad to hear from the others in the same boat. I am curious about the binder, what is that? I am walking around holding a pillow on my stomach. The gas pains/left shoulder/chest area are the worst thing. Anyone gotten through that pain yet and have any advice?

Exactly how much are you walking around? I get up every hour and walk the house, but it isn't that much. Am I supposed to be doing more? I walked down the block and back tonight, but that was a first. The gas pains are so uncomfortable and I hate walking around holding my big stomach. Hope to hear from you all!

My surgeon puts a big elastic binder on our abdomens (like a velcro and elastic girdle). We are supposed to wear it whenever we are up until our post-op visit.

I was instructed to walk a minimum of five minutes an hour.

I had my surgery two weeks ago today. I haven't had the problems that some of you have, but a couple of days ago I reached to pick up a newspaper in a rather awkward way and had a great deal of pain at the site of my port. I still am very sore. Have any of you had a similar problem?

Somedays my port site is fine and somedays it is annoying. If I move just right I aggrievate it. I had my doc check mine out last week and he said it was fine. I don't know if you can feel yours yet, but mine is hard, round and flat and it doesn't wiggle when I poke it. I also have another incision that does that hurting sometimes thing too. They usually feel better after a day or two. If it's still hurting after 2 days, I'd call my doc.

Today was the first day that none of my incisions complained to me with pulling, soreness, itching, or burning.

I did not follow up on the possibility of the June ne forum. I understand why it was created, but I also think it will break up the "team" a bit. Hopefully we can keep touch for the most part on this.

Toni I did not look, but did you start a Fill thread. that would be a good new chapter in our journey!

Farmer E and bkat GREAT to hear from you!! You both sound like you are doing great.

cmp walk as much as you can, the more the better. Just a few steps each time. the gas pains hurt a bit more, but that is because you are MOVING them OUT!! A good thing.

Lynette I bought GNC Pro Performance Soy Protein 95,from the GNC store. I also bought Weight watchers French vanilla powder smoothie, they are creamy. I mix one of those a scoop of my Protein Powder, skim milk, ice and fruit if I have it. that is about 35 - 40 grams and makes alot! two bullet( a mini blender) mugs..

Hi All,

I'm four days out from surgery and doing pretty well. i only have pain when I stretch my abdominal muscles getting out of bed or up from a chair. And I still can't sleep on my stomach. I'm dreading the thought of having to commute by train to work on Monday, so I hope this pain subsides soon. I guess the fact that I'm not one to stay in bed all day isn't helping much since I'm constantly up and down.

Also, yesterday, something somewhat strange started happening. Three days out and I began getting these twinges/small pains in my chest. I guess it feels like slight heartburn. It's strange b/c it isn't only happening after meals, but really all day long no matter what I'm doing. I hope I didn't push myself too quickly -- I had cabin fever Monday and accompanied my mother to an appointment and then went to my grandmother's to get out of the house for a bit. Has anyone else experienced these weird bubbly twinges? If yes, have any insights on what they are or how to stop them? I have my esophogram Monday and post-op appt next Thursday, so I figure I'll ask the doc then if it continues. I hope it doesn't.

Thanks, in advance, for any insights.

Ange - I was banded on 6/18 in the afternoon and went back to work on Wednesday 6/20 for half a day. Then the next day - I spent the whole day. I was moving slower than normal (usually I walk with a purpose and fairlyfast - however, I was definately down to the "moseying style" of walking! Ha. No pain meds after Wed

Kimberly,

I had those twinges or a very tight feeling in my chest. I thought it was just the "gas" moving around. It lasted two days and today has been pretty much free of any pain (I was banded 6/22). But if it continues and you are concerned, please call your doctor's office.

Soooooooo....I have a friend (an ex) that we've been on and off for a long time. I'm in a relationship with someone else now but we've always stayed friends. I had told him about a month ago that I was considering this surgery and then never said any more about it to him. He's currently out of the country for a couple months and I had to share what he just wrote me in a myspace message....

"Yo yo yo kid! Kinda running a few minutes early so I had time to write ya back real quick, you know me, always running early. So whens your surgery? I know you have thought it through and I back you on anything you want to do but please just dont feel like you have to do this, make sure this is something you want to do. You look just fine, been with you when you were on opposite ends of the spectrum as you have me, lifes a roller coaster and with us so is our weight. Such is life, your no less attractive now then you were when we were in our early 20's."

I thought it was an awesome support message. I set him a message back and said in more words, yup...the surgery was yesterday. LOL.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
