kland 0 Posted June 18, 2007 Good luck to everyone being banded today....you're on your way!!!! I'm glad to hear others talk of this burping thing. What is this? The burp that never comes? Ack. How long before this feeling goes away?
TexasFire 84 Posted June 18, 2007 Stef I agree about the portions and fitting in all the food. I plan to email my nurse today for guidance. I know it is to be no more than a 1/2 of food at a time,if that helps? I did something stupid yesterday! I dove into a pool?? I will include this in my email as well to my nurse. I was allowed to go in the pool. That is a good guideline, thank you. I guess, since it was my first real meal, that I should have gone slower and paid better attention to what my band actually thought about that guideline! LOL I am so jealous! Your doctor allowed you to go swimming? I specifically asked about that because I'm in the pool every day possible, and my doc said no for two weeks after surgery! You lucky dog! Your incisions must be closed with something different than mine and I should have thought to ask about options. Oh well, it's been rain, rain, rain here anyhow! Good luck to all new bandsters this week! You will do GREAT and we will see you on the LOSING side! Stef
grayneon 0 Posted June 18, 2007 Tammy,I'm forever in your debt! I never could get the delete button to work for me in my previous attempts. Thanks! Serena your welcome Tammy
samiam 0 Posted June 18, 2007 Toni- I was surfing the other boards and saw your recent posting-- Please do not be so hard on yourself! I am sure that your band is fine! Have you called the doc's office to talk about your concerns? I think you will find that you are NORMAL and that we all have had a discouraging moment or two! Please speak to one of the nurses in the office - I think you will soon let yourself off the hook and get back to the program! Take care! Stacey
beckiet 0 Posted June 18, 2007 Hi, all! 3 days post-op here now...doing good...I also have a sore port area and am hoping the shoulder pain goes away. I didn't think I'd have to deal with that much as when they did the barium swallow it showed just a little bitty area of gas...anyone know if this eventually goes away completely or is it something we have to get used to? I had a few bites of cream of wheat this morning. The weird thing is...I'm not hungry. I'm having to make myself drink and eat.

I had a few bites of cream of wheat this morning. The weird thing is...I'm not hungry. I'm having to make myself drink and eat. Glad to see you're doing well. I had some fat free choc pudding for Breakfast, about 1/2 of one of those individule cups, and I am STUFFED! So weird. When I had my barium swallow it showed a large area of gas, but it has stayed pretty low in my abdomen. Annoying as all get out! Still most of my pain is left abdominal muscle. The muscle there is in a large knot. I haven't gone back to work yet - maybe tomorrow?!? I made my post-op appontmnet with the doc for friday at 1pm, do you know when you're going yet? LauraG. 0 Posted June 18, 2007 Hey June bandsters, I have been reading a lot on this site but not written much. I was banded on the 15th and am 3 days post-op. Anyone else out there itching like crazy. Mine as finally slacked off.I have read you all talking about barium swallows. I did not have one and am of course very curious why I didn't.I am on a liquid diet until I see my Surgeon Thursday and then I guess I'll find out what will be next. I'm hoping for blended foods, I can't wait to taste something good and actually have something to chew. Hope everyone out there is doing well:)
Lady Libra 0 Posted June 18, 2007 IMPORTANT! Hey there! I put in a request to have monthly subforums here instead of one monthly ongoing thread. This way we can all keep up with each others concerns, questions, and need for support. If you agree, please let the admin here know http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f5/monthly-subforum-request-36567/#post493918 I am so lost! (LOL). I asked a question about vomiting and I am not sure if it was answered or not. The subforum is a good idea. I will post it there.
Lucy 0 Posted June 18, 2007 I wasn't trying to make anyone worry or feel guilty when I wrote my post about not cheating. I wrote it to encourage all of us (myself included) to think about what we eat before we eat it. I'm sure none of us have slipped our bands, but it's important that we all keep on top of ourselves in order to make sure that it doesn't happen.

I left a message to make my appointment, but haven't heard anything...hopefully they'll call back soon or I'll call them at 1. I'm having pain there too...really that and the shoulder pain is all the pain I'm having. And I'm still wanting to sleep.< /p> You're courageous to be going back so early...I took this week off. I needed the time away from work but I wasn't sure how I'd do either.
Pippz 0 Posted June 18, 2007 I didn't get the barium swallow either, so don't feel bad. :-) I work for a big company and just went downstairs to get some Soup broth (still on clear liquids). It took a while because there was so much stuff in it and all these guys kept walking by cracking jokes about me taking all of the broth (I don't know them, either). Thank god my supportive coworker was with me or I would have given up and walked away very sad! I guess I just need to be more prepared for this stuff. OH and whoever mentioned about the food commercials. NO KIDDING. I was so so mad all week laying in bed watching big mac's twirl around the TV.
Pippz 0 Posted June 18, 2007 Oh I wanted to add something about portion sizes. My doctor's nutrionist gave me very specific guides for portion sizes in a 7-page printout. On the liquids they say not to have more than 2oz at a time (every 15 minutes). For the blends and mushies, not more than 1/4 cup per serving. It says that the first few months' meals will be no bigger than 1/4 cup and that by 6 months you *might* be able to have 1/2 cup 3 times a day but not to push it. I hope that helps everyone? Suzzzie. 3 Posted June 18, 2007 Hey all. Just thought I'd mention a Protein juice smoothie I found at Wal-Mart called Naked. Welcome to Naked Juice They have a few different ones... but the Protein One is pretty good. a little bit grainy tasting - as I find most protein drinks/food do. Lol. But I like it. it has 20 gms protein per 8oz serving.
