Good luck to all of you getting banded tomorrow!

I have been feeling a *little* better, but still having a ton of gas pains. Did a lot of walking around the apartment today, but I couldn't muster up the energy to get dressed and walk outside. I was feeling so weak and nauseaus that I was afraid I would walk too far and feel faint. Plus, it was almost 90 degrees outside, I think that's too hot!

I have one more day of Clear Liquids and then on Tuesday I will finally be able to progress to full liquids. I haven't been getting much Protein because all of the clear liquid Proteins are disgusting to me. Hopefully I will be fine for one more day. I bought a bunch of pre-made Protein Drinks that Odwalla makes that are chocolate soy dinks. They aren't exactly delicious, but they are bearable. But the Isopure makes me want to vomit. I've been drinking a lot of Water, light cranberry juice, chicken broth, and miso Soup -- the miso soup is the best thing I had all day :)

I use pea Protein Powder. Another vegan on this forum recommended it and it mixes deliciously into Soups (0 carbs). Have a daily wheatgrass juice too for the Vitamin kick.

Thank you for the suggestions! I will have to try the pea Protein powder and wheatgrass juice!

I can't sleep. :-( I'm not really nervous. I keep waiting to feel nervous but it's just not happening. Did anyone else just not feel nervous at all before surgery, or am I just postponing this feeling somehow? ugh

insubordination: Ya I am droping the pounds fast, but I know if I don't get the band I will more than likely put it all back on, just like I have in the past. It's kind of funny, being offshore its really hard to lose weight. Here on the boat we got all the free food we could want. And it's all the good stuff that I know I should not be eating anyway. so I am having a hard time but still doing pretty good.

huntersmom: I used to work on fishing boats, but like you say it's kind of hard to make a living. I now work on a OSV (Oil Supply Vessel) we supply the oil platforms out here on the west coast. I still got friends that fish and they keep me stocked up with all the fish I could ever want. where did you mom and dad fish?

Anyhow time is going by slow for me. I can't wait till the 28th so maybe this hunger will go away.

HolliWagz Let us know which type of surgery you're getting. I'm sure whichever one you get will be super for you. The ticker is correct but you have pasted the ticker's code before the close image tag of your photo. See the tag at the bottom [/img] ? Well you need to cut that and paste it just before ticker code (directly after the .jpg). That way, your second photo will come up.

Well C'apn Danbo, your job will be so much easier to do with some weight off. How long are you planning to take off work? I think you should take a couple of weeks rather than a couple of days, considering your job. It must be torture to be on the the boat with all that food. Hang in there. Two weeks and a bit weeks can seem like a lifetime but it's still just two and a bit weeks.

I have a question for some of you, I ran out of pain meds and when I got some more I (without thinking) swallowed one whole (was a big sucker). Prior to that I had crushed every pain pill. I know it will dissolve soon but it feels kinda tight down there. What about you? Do you swallow whole pills or did your doc tell you not to?

The morning after the surgery, the nurses gave me my pills whole. They told me I did not have to crush them. I asked my Dr. when he came in to check on me, and he agreed. He said a pill, taken one at a time, would not cause any trouble. So I have been taking pills since Thursday and had no trouble. I try and make sure to drink a lot of Water with it.

Good luck to all the banders today. I will be thinking and praying for you.

I think we need a Ticker expert! I to have had problems and when I have to change the weight again( which I hope is soon) I am not sure I will remember how! It was not easy the first time!

Drive- what is a Bullet? What is the full name? I think I recal someone mentioning it before.

Pippz- hang in there! Yes, I felt nervous and stressed up to the time they took me in, but I kept it to a minimum. I kept self talking, " this is what I want, this is going to be great", etc. It helped! I am glad you went to NY and had some friend time!

Lucy- what is miso Soup? I need to find some options.

Insub- I to have taken pills whole, but last night when I took my pain meds, even cutting them in half, I think I took them to fast. Just take your time.

Thinking of the Monday crew!!!!!!!!

Captain Danbo, My grandfather owned a fishing boat and fished off of gloucester, massachusetts. He sold his boat and opened a store that first sold boats then marine supplies. My mother works in the store and has for about the last 40 years, but now there is no business so they are going to close soon. I am glad your friends keep you stocked up in fish because that will really help you lose all your weight and I think I am a little jealous. The fish here is very expensive, haddock is about $8.99 a pound.

pippz I was very nervous the night before surgery, then I got channel surfing and saw on TLC Brookhaven Obesity Clinic and I knew I was doing the right thing. I never wanted to end up there.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
