June 2007 Bandsters

Recommended Posts

I have made it through two days of a liquid diet-It has been SO HARD. Please, someone tell me this WILL get easier!

I'm on day 13. It didn't get easier for me until day 7. Then the physical protestations (is that a word?) stopped for the most part. Not the psychological ones though. I live alone so was able to get rid of all tempting foods. It must be extra hard to have your family around you eating as normal. I have 'slipped' twice. A cake mini-binge last Wednesday (I had to fast all day and went crazy in the evening) and I had 3 spoons of oats this morning (now I'm grinning). However, I will get straight back on the wagon.

I might be a June bandster. My op is booked on May 28th but I'm not sure if the money will come through by then, so June 6th is more likely.

Hey Hottytoddy

I am in Christchurch, New Zealand... the time here at the moment is 5.15pm on Sunday night. I think that we are the first country in the world to cross the date line hence why we seem to always be so much ahead of everywhere else!!! We also use kgs instead of lbs to measure weight... 91.9kgs is equivalent to 202lbs (the factor is 2.2)... I am hoping to be in onederland (lbs) this week (1kg to loose)!!!! I will be spending 2 days in hospital so won't be able to post before you go in unfortunately but will look forward to catching up afterwards:D

Thanks Insubordination for the pre-op advice... hopefully Lisa H and I (and everyone else required to do a pre-op) will feel better soon!! I read a post in another area where a girl was opened up but couldn't have the band placed because she hadn't followed the pre-op diet... that's good inspiration if nothing else! Good luck with your insurance, although it would be nice if you were another june bandster :clap2:

Welcome to everyone else... I guess now is a better time to say have a great Sunday!!!

I created a calender for us to keep up with everybody! These are the names and dates that I got from the post. Please advise of any errors in dates or spellings of names, or if name isn't there at all!!! As newbies post their dates, I'll add them in red... enjoy! :clap2: <O:p</O:p

Hey<!-- google_ad_section_start(weight=ignore) --><SCRIPT type=text/javascript> vbmenu_register("postmenu_473210", true); </SCRIPT> nvalicia I see you are going to western for the band, I was wondering if it is the western in san bernardino CA. I am set for Dr Krahn on june 28th. But I think there might be more than one western.

Heather, thanks so much! It looks great. Is there any way to locate it for easy access? It looks so far that June 1, 6, and 7 are busy days for all of us. I keep up with the Virginia bandsters too, is anyone in June from the Washington DC area( includes MD and VA)? I think I remember Suzzie being one! It would be nice to get together with some people at some point.

Tomorrow is my big day with the doctor. I am anxious to hear about the post and preopt diets since every doc is so different. I also want to learn more about his approach with fills. I read so many posts of difference, I am concerned. Some experienced people talk about not feeling any restriction until their first fill. what does it feel like then? And then others saying if it is to tight they bg? What have you all learned from your meetings with your doctors?

I am just excited to begin the talk that I really don't care what he tells me I need to do, I am READY! I would not mind being on a liquid diet for two weeks, it would boost my loss. Oh well, off to get some serious weekend duties done, YUK!

Janine

Janine, good luck with your appointment tomorrow! I hope you get the answers you're looking for! I have a few for mine tomorrow also! To my delight (and his misery, I'm sure) I see my surgeon daily in the OR! Bless his heart! :what: I've pulled him aside on many occasions! lol...

I'm not sure what you mean about locating the calender for easy access??? Do you mean like post is somewhere else? Sorry for my ignorance.. I'm new to all this and am not real sure how everything works!

***I START CLEARS IN 5 DAYS!!!!*** which is why I had sushi for lunch! :)

Hotty...you are the whip! Thanks for the calendar and a DEEP appreciation to you all for sharing your stories and viewpoints about "To Tell or Not to Tell....." I'm right there. I know it's a long way off, and I'm sure we'll cross that road when we get there, but I already am cringing about the "how did you lose your weight" questions that will arise!

I'm so excited for all you June 1st bandsters! Doesn't it seem so close??? It's May 20th already! (Or the 21st for KT)

Hope you all had a good weekend!

Toni

Wow Toni! I've never been called a Whip before!! Woohoo! Is that kinda like being "da bomb?" :)

I know June 1 is very soon! It's weird... it's so unbelievable that it's about to happen and still seems far away, but yet I know I just had Sunday lunch in the "old" way for the last time! Reality has NOT set in! Im sure it will when I'm sippin on those clears this Friday!

Heather, I am not sure either. I was thinking if it was at the top of our thread we could glance at it easier than finding it on your post? :)

I will talk to you all tomorrow evening.

Thanks Heather... the calendar is perfect :clap2:

11 days to go... woohoo!!! On day 4 of the pre-op and it is still hard but I am struggling through it... (rant) unfortunatley I haven't lost any weight!!! I am kind off upset about this as I feel like I'm eating nothing and excercising heaps and should be being rewarded on the scales... I know the pre-op is about liver shrinkage but most people seem to loose heaps on the pre-op and I want to be one of them :cry

OK, sorry feel better now for getting that off my chest... I need to learn some patience!

Have a great day everyone.

Accountability: Pre-op diet going well and just finished 8km walk around block with friend... loving the exercise!!

Hi Junies!

What's this liquid/clear diet you all are on pre-op? I have 3 more days of "normal-old" eating left before I start my pre-op diet, but it consists of lean meats, veggies, salads, oatmeal etc. (no fats, no sugars) plus two "liquid" Protein shakes/day. Is that considered a liquid diet, or are you all on something different altogether? i.e. literally liquid? I'm curious!

Congrats on all of you who are exercising their booties off! I'm going to start later this week when I feel motivated from the pre-op diet. Doesn't that sound silly? Less calories in, and more calories out! Anyone have a secret to share on how to get on their treadmill each day? I read in "O" magazine it'll take 3 weeks of straight exercise before I'll start to like it/crave it. YUCK! :faint:

Anywhoo, I hope I see the scale move during pre-op, too, KT, or I'll feel discouraged for sure. I'm thinking you may see a big drop in a day or so! Hang in there!

---Toni (who has no idea how to make a cute ticker after her name, besides going to the website!) :help:

My dr. put me on liquid protien diet only. I have to stay under 500 calories per day. It is really hard but I got a supplement to help with the hunger pains.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
