recovery time was quick! i had first lapband placement in november of 2005....a revision in august of 2006 and then the larger band april 2.....i rested one day and was up and at em wednesday, the 4th.....i'm a nurse, so didn't have to go back to work til the sunday afterwards....the 8th.....however, i could have functioned at a desk job or a light lifting job by wed or thurs of the operative week........very easy recovery.....now i'm looking forward to getting a fill soon.......i feel great!

Ok, when i was doing my consult, i was asking about complications. Now they tell me that there is erosion, slippage.... They tell me its very low. When I ask what the doctor's rate is, it's almost like they got offended. She told me that it is the PATIENT'S fault if there is slippage and erosion. (I don't want to offend anyone, if you've had it removed and it's not your fault, this statement is probably upsetting). She said that it happens to people who don't follow the post-op diets and such. What do you guys have to say?

I had my surgery with Dr.Yau at TLBC this past surgery. I found everyone to be really nice and accomodating. I found Nisrine (I'm assuming that was who told you it would be your fault) to be also really informative, and I didn't get the same 'rude' answer when I asked her and the head nurse Darrell that question. She simply said it was about 2% or less. I wouldn't take that response as an indication of the level of professionalism or anything of the clinic. I was and continue to be really happy with my experience.

Thanks for the infor! i'm off to my esophogram---hoping that it shows all is well (but not confident that that's the case).

Just something to think about...sometimes slippage can be taken care of by taking all the fill out of your band and see if things will return back to normal...not always is surgery required.

well, went for the esophogram--it wasn't clear enough to tell. next step--an endoscopy. not feeling real positive that this isn't going to lead to more surgery. oh my...what a mess.

i don't feel bad--my restriction is gone--i can eat anything now--since i had terrible vomiting (sorry) incident last thursday--very violent spasms. i think that's what did this.

the dr. is out of town until may 1---so i'm having the test apr 19 (this thurs) and probably they will not tell me anything until he returns....so....

that's the latest. the p.a. at the dr's office did not mention "taking fill out" to see if things go back to normal....wonder if that's an option? he was mostly saying "the dr. will be able to fix anything that's wrong."

great--just ANOTHER (unplanned) surgery--and more time off from work (unplanned). this is not my year.

on the other hand--have lost 23 lbs--so am pleased about that. but anyone who says "oh this is the easy way out" better watch out for me--i will not take kindly to that statement!

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
