Congratulations toler! It's the start of a new life for you. Take care of yourself, rest, walk and drink lots of fluids and you will feel well soon. And in a couple months you will see your clothes start to hang on you - that's the best part. Well, that and just feeling healthier and more alive.

You did it! Don't let all the usual bumps in the road get you down. If you take everything one day at a time or even a week at a time you will be surprised at how quickly you get into your "new" routine and how much better you will feel. I'm already down four-five sizes and it's been just under four months. Even better, I haven't felt this good for years! I wish the same for you.

Right now, my legs still feel heavy. I know this will subside. Right now I'm ready for a nap LOL

I did manage to get my meds down this morning, and that is a good sign.

Catch everyone later.

I was up weight wise for almost a week and although I have lost weight all over my stomach still seems bloated, they said it could take up to two months for it all to go away.

Give it time

Oh boy, I know it will get better. How in the world do you get 48 to 64 oz of Water in, especially these first few days.I can't drink when I'm asleep. I'm doing the best I can but my mouth is SO dry! I'm still kind of loopy and tired all the time.

At first they had me drinking Water out of the small plastic med cups, about an ounce or two at a time. They gave me a big supply of the cups so I could count how many I had used. Somehow small cups seemed a lot less intimidating than a large glass. I was tired and weak for a week. I just couldn't take in enough calories. Again I drank small amounts of Protein shakes all day, plus Jello.

Just keep at it and this early phase will pass soon.

Thank you Kate. I feel a bit better each day. Today I graduate to milk, thinned yogurt, creamed (and blended) Soups.< /p>

My hubby is a little too gleeful about giving me the blood thinner shots each morning LOL

He's taking good care of me.

I just keep a 2oz glass of Water in my hands all the time LOL When I empty it, it gets refilled.

Today I graduated to creamed Soups, yogurt, pudding. Not drinking 30 before and 30 after, puts a bit of a crimp in the drinking though

Just wish I could figure out why, the more I drink, the dryer my mouth gets! It's crazy!

The bloat is finally going down. Noticed my ankles are not swollen any more.

One day at a time, eh?

if you are taking pain meds that will make your mouth dry try a popcicle that may help

I forgot about the pain meds giving you dry mouth. I've backed way off on them and yes, have noticed the mouth isn't as dry.

Something else I've noticed. I've not been taking the handful of Vitamins, just my Rx meds and just started my bariatric vitamins...anyway, the swelling in my ankles has just about vanished. True, I'm up about every hour to hour 1/2 peeing, So that is getting rid of a lot of Fluid from my system, which in turn means the ankles will shrink. It's nice to see my ankles again LOL.

I'm feeling a bit better this morning. Not dragging quite so much. Baby steps.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
