I felt lousy and weak for the first 6 weeks. At almost exactly 6 weeks, I started feeling better. I had more energy and felt more in control of my body.

Hi I'm 7 weeks out and eating about 700-800 calories. Not sure if that's normal but it feels comfortable for me. I'm getting in 60-80 grams of Protein and don't do Protein Shakes everyday I eat 3 small meals and fit in one or two small smacks like almonds. It works for me and I don't feel different anymore it just becomes normal. I've also experimented with all kinds of food and find that something settle well and some things don't. You can't go back so just find the types of food you like that feel good and count calories and protein you will do great!

Hang in there. I'm also 4 weeks out. I finally have realized I'm a three bites/sips girl. I was vomiting from too much. I have really slowed down the rate at which I eat/drink. I have noticed that things that are sweet (propel, snapple, and even the Calcium chews) are no longer something I enjoy. It seems I like savory foods. Things will get better. It's like learning to walk again!

It will get better - when I was a month out, I felt the same way. Eating, counting, logging, drinking...OMG, it was difficult, tedious and annoying. I can remember wanting something "quick and easy" because I was in a crunch for time - yeah, that doesn't work.

I'm almost six months out now and am doing well - life is pretty normal for me. I don't feel the same way I did at one month out. I enjoy food. I don't obsess about it.

Be patient. You need to learn how and when to eat. I think I started feeling normal at around 4 months.

I really appreciate all the encouraging and reassuring replies. I'm so happy to have a place to get these emotions out. I believe things will improve and since there is no turning back; I must go through this as part of the process.

I didn't go into this surgery with naivety but at this point I feel like the emotional toll can't be judged or truly realized until you're in that situation.

I'm 4 weeks post op and I truly don't enjoy life post sleeve. Eating is so complicated. What to eat, when to eat, how long to eat, how much to eat. It's just so tedious and difficult it makes me miserable. I really wish I could turn back time and not have this sleeve. I'm just hating this lifestyle.

I'm 2 weeks post op and feel the same way :( I just want to eat something normal. Having said that, I had french onion Soup last night with the onions and a bit of cheese , chewed good and feel a lot better today.

I feel like you do some days Tanya but I remind myself to give it time. Things will improve. I see my husband who is 6 months out from weightloss surgery and he is much happier. I remind myself that I will get to that point soon. This procedure has taught me that I have an unhealthy relationship with food. I ate too fast, put too much food in my body, and I grazed all day. Everyday is a struggle but nothing in life so worthwhile comes easy.

Life gets easier down the road. The first 2-3 months were hard for me. No energy and I missed eating. I still miss eating! The emotional/psychological journey is really the hardest part IMO. Your feelings are normal and am glad you are courageous enough to express them openly. It is important to remind ourselves why we chose this path. It's a hard choice, a drastic choice and not the easy way out. We all have to be forever mindful of our food choices and amounts or we risk undoing all the hard work. In that sense we're no different from anyone else on a weight loss program. The surgery is NOT freedom from dieting but it is a fabulous tool to keep one from overeating. Eventually you can eat whatever you desire but much smaller amounts. That being said, it is still possible to eat more than your body needs and thus gain weight. That's where exercise come into play. It helps your body burn at a higher rate. At 14 months post-op I eat more now and feel hungry often. It's knowing the difference between true physical hunger vs. emotional hunger that is the challenge. I still track my food but not as religiously unless the scale starts to creep up. Do I regret anything? Hell no! You will start to enjoy life more very soon. Be kind to yourself in other ways and comfort yourself in other ways. The physical healing is the easy part.

It's so good to read that it's not all wonderful for everyone right away. It really gives me hope. I'm thankful for all the support I get on here. Knowing I'm not alone with these feelings this first month makes thinks easier.

      Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
      1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

        All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

      I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
