upurg 27 Posted April 30, 2014 Was anyone else charged administrative fees. I feel like I am paying to have my appt's set for me or to fund the doctors they work with. I would like to use my own doctors that I choose. Is it possible to get all of you testing done outside the program?
Jersrose43 837 Posted April 30, 2014 Your question is unclear. Who is charging you admin fees? A program a hospital a doc?
upurg 27 Posted April 30, 2014 A program at the hospital
Jersrose43 837 Posted April 30, 2014 You should call your insurance and find outbid they cover these or consider it ok under the hospitals contract with them. I've never heard of it and I've been in insurance for 20 years. Interesting to see what is covered by this administrative fee they are charging you. Your insurance may not like them charging you a cash fee outside of an agreed to contract with hospital.
upurg 27 Posted April 30, 2014 I was advised by the program advocate that this is not covered by insurance or part of the deductable or coinsurance. The advocate explained the Fees were for coordinating your information package to submit to the insurance company. She did say that they could not guarantee it would be approved but the program would make sure all the documented requirements are met. They basically send you to an in house dietician,NUT, cardiologist, and psychologist and they sent all the appointments.
Jersrose43 837 Posted April 30, 2014 Sounds like you are paying for services that are their job. In other words everyone else gets for free Call your insurance
danaevett 179 Posted May 1, 2014 I had to pay a $1000 administrative fee. Really sucks.
Jersrose43 837 Posted May 1, 2014 What did you get for this extra $1000? It's not like they can control an insurance approval. So what do they do for that money?
upurg 27 Posted May 1, 2014 (edited) I have the same question. That's extortion. lol I feel like they know we will pay to live a better life but that is insane . Edited May 1, 2014 by upurg
Susan-031314 179 Posted May 4, 2014 This sounds fishy. I paid nothing that wasn't billed through my insurance. Hospitals in the DFW metroplex offer support groups for free. If I contact the hospital NUT, that would billed as additional services, but my Dr's office is available (I'm sure within reason) for a year, post surgery.
