Romantic Relationship-Secret Surgery-Bad Timing

Recommended Posts

Life will be a lot easier if you don't make "rules" about what is supposed to happen to you. Seriously.

You don't know if this relationship is going to last another hour, another day, week, month or a lifetime. Take it as it comes. You don't owe him anything right now, and that includes an explanation.

This doesn't fall under the "honesty" umbrella. There is a huge difference between being honest with potential partners and telling people things that aren't any of their business at this point in the relationship. With time comes the right to know.

You can deal with the food issues by simply saying you have some "dietary restrictrictions". Only the most socially clueless amoung us would press for the gory gastrointestinal details. If he turns out to be a LTR who can keep a confidence, then you can share appropriate details when the time comes.

I am an open book when it comes to relationships. I get the whole keeping it a secret but if you are into this guy and this guy is totally into you I don't think there should be anything to hide. When I broke the news to my man, he had his questions at first but was totally supporting. He was more worried that I was going to drop weight like crazy fast like the Flash speed. I do believe that this might be a huge mistake if you do not tell him and continue to be intimate with him. I kept my surgery a total secret until I had a set date for surgery. I only told select few before I blew it up on Facebook via blog post and also my overly opinionated grandmother on my dads side. Anyways if this guy is totally into you like you say he will see past the surgery and see that you are bettering yourself health wise and love you no matter what.

You should tell him if it could be serious with him. As for your family and friends, if they are condescending and wouldn't understand then don't mention it until after surgery. Then I would tell them because you won't want anything to hold you back. You deserve happiness and surround yourself with people who respect and support your new path in life :-)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
