Sorry @@steveelea that was me in work mode... it's a laparascopic cholecystectomy and it is the removal of the gallbladder that is done when someone has gallstones or rather, cholecystitis. He is doing it because he wants to remove the possibility of confusion over where pain comes from after the surgery. If I get pain after my op I'll know it's my stomach and not question the gallbladder.

@@chez never feel silly... you can never be too careful :)

@@steveelea Oh yeah I have gallstones and I get gallstone attacks when a stone gets stuck which cause excruciating pain in my abdomen and back so we're doing both at once. It's good, saves me another op later to remove the gallbladder :)

Absolutely it will and its a good thing too that you can get it done at the same time....and they say that people that lose weight are more likely to get stones too so it's something that you wont have to worry about at all after the op. :)

I know I wasn't going to hop on the scales again for some time as I was getting down when I hadn't lost anything....but it has been over a week so thought I would weigh myself and I am down to 113.9......seeing that number go from a 14.5 to a 113.9 was fantastic.....only just under the 114 but I will take that :D

Hey Chez....it's a roller coaster of emotion I tell you......

As soon as I wrote that I was hearing Ron Burgendy's (Anchor man) voice in my head pmsl....anyway

I felt like that on and off for some time. I think it's recovering from all that you go through from all the emotions before hand, the fear the excitement etc to recovering from the anisthetic and the surgery itself.

Any surgery I have had done takes me a long time emotionally to get over it and I think thats the anisthetic plays a massive part in that....everyone copes and recovers differently but its an emotional time so just don't be too hard on yourself you have been through a lot and done really well xox

Hey you poor thing.....no wonder you feel crap at the moment.

Im ok just have some throat thing at the moment.....my daughter has farangitis (lol spelling) and I think I have it now too.

I am going to my friends house tomorrow and she is going to help me with my resume so I can start applying for jobs.

I have been thinking about becoming a teachers aide because you get school holidays off.

Not sure how much I would love it but I do love kids and have always worked with them so it may suit me.

Im not smart though and the thought of helping teenagers with maths scares the crap out of me

I think I would prefer working with teenagers as I have always worked with younger children and I need a change.

My kids are all teenagers now and my house is always full of them and their friends so I am looking after them all anyway.....may aswell get paid to do it

Or do I get a job in retail part time....decisions decisions

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
