Update on me...Woot!

Recommended Posts

Hey all, so its been awhile since ive written anything. Kinda been down lately way way way down. So how am i doing now? Well im doing alright. Taking things slowly. Finally am able to eat solid real food again. That is going well, im able to eat some stuff i probably shouldnt be able to eat, like pork chops and Pasta and bread. Dunno why people say that stuff is so hard, goes down just fine for me. Sometimes i wonder if there is even a band in there some things go down so easily. I get my FIRST FILL April 23rd. So im really really excited yet scared about that. Im not too sure what it will feel like to eat food after that, scares me a bit. Im slowly, very slowly but surely moving on from my Break Up. I met this new guy, he is amazing. He is so nice and caring, not to mention cute. He lives only an hour away from me. Ive called him, we plan on having more phone conversations. Hopefully meeting pretty soon. He really acts like he cares about how im doing. He constantly asks. Im still on blood thinners, may be my whole life, could be for a year, could be 6 months, Im not sure yet. I still am getting my blood drawn and checked. Im being watched over like a hawk. The surgeon who did my Lap Band calls nearly twice a week to check on me and see how im doing. Now what kind of surgeon does that? A damn good caring one, thats what. He is the best person i have ever met (my surgeon that is). So besides the fact that my heart is still shattered and im trying to put it back together, and the fact that im scared of the unknown, Everything is going good. Well hmmm not sure what else to write. I will keep you all posted. Im off to make dinner, tuna Patties....kinda like salmon Patties...YUM YUM. Talk to you all later. Bye.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
