So, it's moontime (aka TOM). Although my surgery is in 23 days, I am trying to adopt the lifestyle changes early and often. It's a daily challenge, but I've got to try. So, I finally kicked my old ibuprofen habit. I mean, if a "habit" is taking it several days a month for intense menstrual cramps. I have extreme dysmennorhea that lasts for days. I usually don't call in to work, but I want to. I'm kind of useless for 1-2 days. So, my question is,

What do we take when we can't take ibuprofen??? I've literally been taking IB for cramps for 15 years. I don't know anything else! I even bought the bran-name extra strength tylenol, and it doesn't even make a dent in the pain. Don't most PMS meds contain caffeine? I don't want to take that, either. I will talk to my surgeon about this when I see her in 20 days, but for now....

Can someone please suggest something comparable?

Thank you,

SCB

wow Im sorry to hear that, I was so addicted to bc powder and it was very hard for me to give up but I did one month before surgery...I only take liquid Tylenol, I would suggest asking the dr because the NSAIDS was a big issue for me as well because I have headaches and Migraines all the time....I am so thankful that I have not had a Migraine and the headache did go away with food and liquid Tylenol.... Good luck, I hope you find your answer

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
