Should I be able to eat this much?

Recommended Posts

I am going on 4 weeks out and yesterday I had a Protein Shake for Breakfast, lunch 2 thin slices of Boars Head blazing buffalo chicken deli meat and 4oz of 2% cottage cheese. dinner I had 4oz of steamed cabbage and snack I had 1 Greek non fat yougurt. I am getting in my Protein and still coming in under my allowed 700 calories a day. I have been in a stall for about a week and the doctor had me go from 500 to 700 calories a day. I feel like I am eating so much more than the average sleever. Should I cut back? What does your daily menu look like?

Seems perfect to me. The dreaded 3 weeks stall hits almost everyone. I stalled at week 3 for almost 6 weeks! Then dropped like 10 lbs that following week. Just keep doing what your doing :)

No, you should stick with your plan that you and your Dr. have set for you. Stalls are usually resulting from your body adjusting and while they are frustrating as hell while they are happening, if you stay the course, when the stall is over you will lose a sizeable amount quickly to make up for it. Also, you might want to track measurements instead of weight for a while because usually when people are "Stalled" they are actually losing inches as their body is transforming fat to muscle at that time. Good Luck, and try to stay positive and enjoy the journey.

Stick with the doctor's plan. Most doctors don't like telling you how many calories to consume per day because they want you to focus on Protein, however, I have noticed that when I consume a bit more, around 800-900 calories per day, I will lose weight. I'm almost 6 weeks out. Today, I had two string cheese sticks for breakfast, a whopping 15oz can of Progresso Beef Barley Soup for lunch. I will probably eat another string cheese for a snack and have broccoli and beef or a Protein shake for dinner, then an Atkins bar for a snack.

I also, dibble and dabble in low calorie/no sugar/chips (Blue Chips) sometimes too. It's really all about your Protein at this stage. Good luck and don't fret about it.

I had a stall from week 3 to 5 I upped my calories goal to 800, still couldn't get that much in, I'm averaging 700-750, but my scale did start moving again right before I hit 6 weeks. I think the stalls are a normal part of the process. Follow your dr's orders, get your Water and Protein in and you'll be fine.

I have similar concerns. I can eat a whole serving of Greek yogurt and not feel full. I have seen people saying two bites and that's all. But it's early and I always knew that it's still up to me to follow the plan. I am having a harder time with fluids too that might help me feel fuller longer and not be tempted to graze.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
