I'm 6 weeks out and cannot tolerate noodles of any kind, I tried one noodle this weekend and wow--not so good. I've read on this forum a lot of people can't tolerate Pasta either.

I'm think I'm happy I can't have them :)

I've dabbled with Pasta a couple times, but usually it's the noodles that come in a can of Soup. No problems at all in tolerating it.

That said, I'm curious about whipping up some sort of chicken stir fry with those Shirataki noodles myself... perhaps I will try this for dinner tonight and report back?

shiritaki Noodles are made from Tofu. They are lower carbs and not made out of "pasta". I can't handle Pasta ( i know i shouldn't but i tried some anyway) and was wondering if anyone had any luck with these.

Just be careful. I used to eat them after reading about hearing about from Hungrygirl's pretend fettuccine alfredo and liked them. I am trying to be more careful with my carb intake, but really miss Pasta.

Look up miracle noodles. They do have a bit of an odor out of the bag ( you have to rinse ) and they are a bit different consistency than regular Pasta. But they are basically a "free" food; no calories, fat, gluten; carbs etc. ( They are made from a plant starch. Come from Asia, been used there for years) They are a carrier for sauce. They have no real flavor, you get the flavor from whatever sauce you use. I made a batch of "spaghetti" with ground turkey and a low sugar Tomato sauce. It was better after they set over night and absorbed some of the flavor. The texture is a little weird, but if you can get used to it then it is a great alternative.

Roo did your sleeve handle them well? That is what i am most afraid of. I have had them pre surgery, and i got used to their odd texture/taste. I just wasn't sure how well tolerated they were with the sleeve. Since I have been sleeved, Pasta is not my friend( and it really shouldn't be I guess).

Well I have to be honest, I have the sleeve of steel. The only one thing I have found that seems to bother it at all is plain H2O ..I can sip Water ok, but only small amounts. Add anything to it, like Crystal Lite, and no more problems- weird! lol But no, I had no problem at all eating them. They didn't bother me in the least.

I've wondered about how kelp noodles would go down as well as Shirataki. they are a sea veggie. I use them in a low-carb pad thai dish. For the unsleeved they are great. I love thai noodles. I've also used thinly sliced jicama (pretty watery root veggie from Mexico) as noodles, too.

They haven't caused a problem for me like regular Pasta. Be sure to follow the instructions exactly because they can be nasty if you don't.

Just was wondering if anyone had tried these after being sleeved and if they were well tolerated?

Yes i have. They are tofu and yummy. Makes you feel like your not missing out on Pasta. I am 10 months and still do not eat bread or Pasta so it is a nice substitute.

I'm years out from surgery so me being able to eat them without issue will be much different than other responses. I actually really like them and I found them at Walmart. They smell a bit fishy so you will want to rinse them thoroughly before using. They are really really long too so in that case I like to cut them shorter before cooking.

I pan sautee them with EVOO and lots of garlic and it kills the rest of the smell and minor bland flavor, then it takes on the flavor of whatever you cook into it.

It's def acquired, you will get many different answers. Lots of people don't like them.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
