Partying with my sleeve

Recommended Posts

Tomorrow is Sleeve Day. I'm so excited and nervous!! Ready to start my new life

Just finished all of my preop work up and last visit. The last thing the Do your said to me was that I've made a good decision. The sleeve should be very successful for me

That was great to hear.

I went home and laid out all my Soups Vitamins and drinks for when I get home from the hospital.

Now I'm taking one daughter to spend the week with her dance teacher who is my very close friend. I'm so thankful for close supportive friends

My mother in law is coming to the house to stay with my disable daughter while hubby is at work so I have been getting all of that ready as well. I'm also grateful for my family who is being supportive and helping out

Needless to say it's been a busy day of preparation here but I'll be glad I did it so I can relax when I get home and recover.

Congrats!! I'm in the sane page. I'm just waiting for my surgery date so I can start the 2 week liquid diet. I'm pretty excited about it but a bit nervous too. I'm getting ready to buy all my foods. Gonna make done homemade chicken Soup for pre and post op. Also checking out baby foods for my intro back to food. Lol

Thanks for the support and info I have found here

I am now 4 1/2 hours away from surgery where I will have hiatal Hernia repair as well as my VSG. Surgery is at 10. I have to be at the hospital by 8. But, first, I have to take a shower then dry off then wipe my entire abdominal area with these anti microbial wipes twice.

I have been up since three because I can't sleep and I am so thirsty but no food or drink. I'm gonna be a good girl.

Good morning. I had my sleeve yesturday and am doing very well. I started walking 5 hrs after surgery my chest felt so tight I got back to my room I started breathing test and that really really helped the feeling went away. In two hours I will have a barium upper gi to make sure there are no leaks. This is one of the questions I asked my doctor, how many leaks has he had, he stated 1 and because patient didn't disclose all medical history. So I was calm going in. With lots of prayers and God by my side I'm doing well so excited for this journey. I'll get to go home today!!

I was going to check in after surgery yesterday but I was hurting way too bad.

Here's a rundown from yesterday

Surgery was supposed to be at 10 but there were a couple of emergencies so I didn't get into surgery til 2:30.

After surgery, Dr Bina called my husband in to a conference room which was odd because apparently everyone else had gotten updates of "surgery went well" out in the hall. So that scared the crap out of him and my mom. Basically, he said that once they got in there, they found out my hiatal hernia was much larger than they had thought. He said it was possibly the worst he'd seen. It had taken a little longer to get done because of that. Other than that, everything went well.

After getting to my room for recovery I fell asleep and kept pushing my button for pain meds. I finally got up around ten that might and walked, got rid of some gas. I started feeling much better every time I would walk.

I had my leak test this morning and everything looked good so I'll be headed home soon

It's been two days and I'm starting to feel better. Keeping up Fluid intake is hard. I haven't even been able to focus on Proteins yet. I'm just barely keeping meds in and getting gas out.

I've drank some grape juice and Water but still keeping it at room temp.

My husband told me last night that my doctor said I did the right thing by having surgery now. He said my liver had so many fatty deposits on it that I was going to be full blown diabetic within a year.

I am doing well now and have been walking a lot. I will be building it all back up til I can Zumba again.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
