Everyone is a bit different... I took about 4 weeks...but I HATE my job  ... but actually I had a bit of a problem with dehydration...so I had to go in for a fill and the dr wanted me to make sure I was ok with my Fluid intake before driving and working... ...

so take it easy... remember you are healing from the inside out... you may just have a few little scars on the outside, but your tummy has had a major overhaul!!!

I had FMLA/disability...so I was covered...so that's an important factor as well, I'm sure.

Good Luck! ;)

I'm only a week out and I feel pretty good. I'm thinking about returning to work Wednesday. Is this to early? What are your thoughts? I work at an elementary school so it's not hard work.

check with your doctor...!!!

you can't lift anything...you may not be released to drive yet (pulls on your tummy stitches)... it's a tightrope... personally I think one week is WAAAY too soon for anyone... you just had MAJOR surgery, even tho it doesn't show that way :)

I went back 1/2 days at first, however, with being a teacher, I don't think that would be feasible... please call your doctor before attempting to return too soon

How does the fmla work tho? Is that without pay or what...I was trying to do some research on that because that's probably what I'll have to use when time comes...

I am 67. I was grocery shopping in 3 days and at the mall in 5 days, walking a few hours. I could have worked my desk job in a week. I took 1 dose of pain med at home after 24 hours in the hospital. I drove 2 days after surgery but I was not on medication. I felt so great I just wanted to go.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
