Hello, all!

My name is Amanda and I am 6 weeks post op. I have lost almost 50 lbs. I started at 275. I am a wife and mother of three boys. This journey has had many ups and downs. The first two weeks were the most difficult. I was having serious regrets which made me feel really selfish because I had to pay a deductible which was a big hit for my family. Luckily we made it through and I made it past the feelings of regret. Now I am so glad that I did it! I feel better than I have in years. I have started getting hungry a little bit here lately but all I can eat is a few bites at a time. Maybe 2 oz of tuna at a time about once a day. I basically just make sure I get in lots of Water and my Protein Shakes and eat food on the side when I get a little hungry. I have not started a work out program yet but I still continue to lose about 3-5 lbs a week. Basically I am just curious if this is the pattern with anyone else? I was told by my dr as long as I drink my Protein shakes and get at least 80-90 grams of protein a day I would be ok. And take my Vitamins of course. Is the amount of liquids and foods I am taking in normal or similar to anyone else?

Thanks!

Amanda

You are probably a bit above the curve :) ...you need to start exercising to tone your skin... I didn't do it as part of my plan in the beginning and am regretting it...but everyone is different. My worse part is my upper arms, so I have been using lightweight weights when I walk now to help tone them...

Congrats

Amanda,

You're right on track. Protein is gonna be your new best friend. Liquids might get a little tougher to get enough in daily, but I found that going to the gym or doing a rigorous cardio workout is the perfect way to develop a thirst and get in more fluids. I even add in some Protein drinks like Isopure or the like for some extra Protein.

As long as your meeting those Fluid and protein goals, you can take your time adjusting to the new meal regimens. Sounds like you haven't encountered any stalls yet, so be aware they are coming. It's just the body trying to adapt to the changes and hang on to remaining weight. It will adjust and the weight loss will resume. Don't let it get you flustered. Stick to your guidelines.

You're doing great.....keep up the good job. ;)

My biggest issue is letting it happen in good time..,,,i need to just slow down. If im hungry sip another shake rather then goi g thru the phases too soon..,,im starting to think positive,..im getting past can i do this..its just a matter of waiting and slowing down for me...reteaching to sip not graze. Use my jellos and ice pops for the i need something now. Heres hopeing we all get our dream of health

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
