Cigna Out of Pocket Payment

Recommended Posts

Hello all. I'm just wondering if folks can give me an idea of how much they paid out of pocket, if they had out of pocket maximums with Cigna OAP. My date is scheduled but now I'm waiting for my surgeon's office to call and tell me how much the surgery will cost me out of pocket. I know everyone is different, but I gave met my yearly deductible just not my out of pocket maximum. Any info would help me. Thanks.

Every plan in the nation is different you have to call you company. Just because it's Cigna doesn't mean all Cigna is same.

My Cigna is $4500 deductible and 15% to $9000 out of pocket. My cousin has Cigna and it's $500 deductible and 10% to $2000 out of pocket

It depends on what you purchase if individual plan or what your employer purchases

100% covered except for 50/night hospital stay x 3 so $150 out of pocket plus copays for office visits.

You are allowed to call yourself and get the info, it doesn't have to go through your Dr office. :)

Finally got my out of pocket fees today. I only have to pay $30.85 for the Endoscopy and $287.32 for the surgeon's fee. I am so thankful!

Yes it does depend on what your employer purchases because I had to resign from my job just to use my husbands insurance as a primary carrier because his insurance covers everything at a 100% for the whole surgery I only had to pay 20.00 for my preop visit with the surgeon. Everything else is included.

Go to mycigna.com and set up an account. It's a very good site that has a tracker to show where you are at from both a deductible and out of pocket standpoint. You also have access to all doctors and hospitals that are in and out of network. As of today because of the out of pocket payments I've made on all the tests and other procedures my VSG will only cost me $42. My deductible is $600 with a 20% co-pay but maxes out at $2800 out of pocket. Every plan is different.

Set up your account at mycigna.com today. You'll use it often.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
