Ton of questions

Recommended Posts

Hi guys I have a long story to tell and I need support. In 2011 I was getting all my blood work done and checking into my hotel room the night before my surgery when they called and told me I was pregnant. So we turned around and headed home. Now here we are in 2014 and 2 kids later, and I'm ready to try it all again. This time money is harder to come by even though my husband received a promotion at work. Taking care of 2 girls is expensive. Who'd of thought it? Any way during my first pregnancy I developed gallstones and it's highly recommended they remove my gallbladder. To this day I still have. 1-2 attacks a month. Now here's the question has anyone been able to get their sleeve and gallbladder removed at the same time? There is an exclusion on my insurance for weight loss surgery so I'm paying out of pocket, but the gallbladder surgery would be covered so that's why Im hoping they can do both at the same time. If anyone has had it at the same time and in the same boat as me what was the final cost?

I had both done at the same time. From talking to his staff, it is his normal procedure to go ahead and remove the gallbladder. One of the nurses told me that if it wasn't removed, I'd probably be back in few years to have it taken out anyway. He said that many overweight people commonly have gallbladder problems.

I am 10 months post sleeve. I had to have gallbladder removed in feb. I have heard of others getting gallbladder removed with sleeve surgery. Some doctors do it prior. I had no issues upfront. I had issues starting around 7 months post sleeve then had to have removed.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
