Pretty_In_Purple 112 Posted April 28, 2014 Are we ever aloud to eat popcorn again? I thought I read somewhere no popcorn for VSG patients. If so, why not?
awold0 246 Posted April 28, 2014 Are we ever aloud to eat popcorn again? I thought I read somewhere no popcorn for VSG patients. If so, why not? I have no problem with it and was never told I could not have it. Now it is a slider food. I can eat way to much so I keep it to like once every 2 weeks. I did not have it till I was 3 months out. 1 Pretty_In_Purple reacted to this
Jen:) 40 Posted April 28, 2014 I've seen on here that popcorn is a slider for people. My paperwork doesn't say anything about it, for or against 1 Pretty_In_Purple reacted to this
The Laughing Cat 54 Posted April 28, 2014 I asked my NUT about popcorn. She said not until stage 5 and very sparingly as it is a slider as others have stated. Popcorn is one of my favorite foods. I need to think up some way to enjoy it without getting out of control. 1 Pretty_In_Purple reacted to this
joatsaint 2,814 Posted April 28, 2014 I didn't eat popcorn for months post-surgery. Not because I couldn't have it, but because I was eating so little that I needed to get the maximum nutrition per bite that I could get. It was probably 6 months before I tried popcorn. I remember not being able to finish half the bag, it was months later before Frankensleeve could hold a whole bag of popcorn. I've had no problems with it. but now, It is a slider food for me. I buy the single serving microwave bags and limit myself to 1 bag - so I know exactly how much I'm eating. 1 Pretty_In_Purple reacted to this
Pretty_In_Purple 112 Posted April 28, 2014 What does "slider food" mean ?
Wags 549 Posted April 28, 2014 (edited) Sliders are foods that go down easy and don't fill you up. Some people also think of them as trigger foods because you can eat a whole lot of them and not get full. Josh2xh 70 Posted April 28, 2014 Oh no... I am only 3 days post op and I had a brief craving for popcorn. I am pretty sure it was a craving induced by movie night though. I just assumed popcorn would be out of my diet for life after the sleeve. I have never been much of a popcorn person. But the butter and salt I enjoy it with are not very good for me. I am glad I saw this post though as I was unaware of slider foods. I will have to be aware of these later though.
