well thanks everyone!

I guess i'll stick with the Fintstones!

He also has me set up with liquid Calcium (for immediately post op, then switch to pill form down the road). sublingual B12, Biotin.

On my own i'm adding Flax Seed liquid to my day just to make sure I get appropriate Omega fatty acids.

I take One A Day women's health 2x day, and 3000 mg Biotin. My question is if your taking a multi Vitamin why do you take the B-12 and the Calcium? I thought that had all the requirements needed. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks

My physician recommended Gummy-vites and Vitamin B12 sublingual tabs. Found them both at costco and am pleased with taste/texture of the gummies. My husband even started taking them! :) Still not a fan of the B12's.... working on it though. Good luck!

I was doing so research on bariatric surgery and with the bypass and less so with the sleeve your body needs more than just a Multivitamin to get all the B12 that you need. The stomach plays a huge role in the absorption of B12. Calcium because with our limited food intake we are at high risk for too little calcium and Vit D. I think I remember something about weight loss or bariatric surgery making you more susceptible to osteoporosis. The Multivitamins just aren't enough for you to get all of these requirements.

I'm supposed to take:

1. Vitamin D

2. 4 optisource Post Bariatric Vitamin @ 4 different times each day

3. 500mg of calcium citrate (i either do 1 Peanut Butter or 2 lemon bites by Bariatric Advantage)

4. B12 every other day.

5. Biotin (optional)

I've only been taking #2 and #3 regularly. I just got a prescription for a high dosage of Vitamin D from my Nut, so I'm starting back on that tomorrow and I also plan to run to GNC to get my B - 12.

I was told I had the option to take flinstone chewables, so once I'm starting to get tired of the OptiSource I'll look into that. (BTW, it's kind of hard to find OptiSource outside of the Internet or Wal-Greens)

There's a website called Bariatric Fusion. It has all sorts of Vitamins on it, the site is specifically for people who had the bypass, sleeve and lap band. I take the Mixed berry flavor complete chewable Vitamin and mineral supplement. And I take chewable Iron. Research it, I've really enjoyed these vitamins and you only have to take three of the vitamins three times a day AND they taste good! Good luck!

@@debcal73 yes, look for the High Potency chewable Multi's. They have a very light taste. I've been taking two a day (one with Breakfast, one with dinner) since four weeks out and my labs have always been excellent. 5 calories and one carb per chewable. Bonus: they are cheaper than just about any other chewable I have seen.

My doctor recommended a Vitamin specifically for those who have had weight loss surgery.

I take:

Celebrate multi. vit chewable pineapple strawberry 2 per day

Celebrate B12 sublingual 1 per day

Celebrate Iron plus C Berry 1 per day

Bariatric Advantage calcium citrate chewy bite carmel flavored 4 per day

I order them all on line from Amazon or wherever I can find them cheapest.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
