90 grams of protein=no weight loss, 65-70 I lose a pound! I was put on my normal diet 6weeks post op, I struggle to get in the protein.I didn't lose any weight since that day, 1 week and 3 days, I took in about 65 yesterday and lost a pound as of today. I also don't feel myself when I force that amount of Protein. I am very nervous about sticking to what I was told. I am drinking lots of Water (liquid, including protein shakes) about 70oz. a day! I don't want to cause trauma to my body or risk weight gain. what is the least you can do without risk?

I think that 90 grams is a little high, i personally when i first had my surgery was shooting for about 60 grams a day for the first couple months. Now the amount of Protein itself won't effect how much you lose but the more Protein the more calories, so keep track of the calories and carbs and just make sure you are getting enough protein that you have enough energy to make it through the day, that's how i did it at least but of course everyone is different. Thanks! I feel great and have tons of energy when I get about 60grams, when I achieve 90 I feel very heavy and weighted if that makes sense, I find myself forcing myself to complete tasks. I have had tons of energy, day 2 of rebellion! I think 90 is something I will have to work up to if ever, I find I do better with natural Protein and not shakes, I have started to add protein to my smoothies.< /p>

My doctor told me it's important to get 100 gms of Protein in the beginning. I do a double scoop of whey protein (30gms a scoop), for Breakfast, and then I eat high protein yogurts 14gms of protein maybe 2-3 a day, and try to eat a little meat (chicken,turkey) It's not easy doing the shake, but I do it with a little almond milk, and a little skim milk, and I make it around 7 a.m, and then put it into a container, and just every once in a while will take it out of fridge, and drink a couple of mouthfuls (it's the hardest part of my morning) but I don't want it to linger on through the day, so I just get it over with. the more you can get in to you (which isn't much) the easier the weight comes off, because your body isn't in starvation mode. I was told that men are usually told to intake 80-90 grams of protien. Women are usually told to intake 50-60 grams.

Thing is, if you don't get in enough Protein you will lose muscle (not fat) and you don't want to do that. So higher losses with lower Protein may not be a good thing.

There is considerable variation in opinion in how much Protein One needs. Personally, I go by my lean body mass, which your nut should be able to tell you. How much protein you need will vary by your activity level, age, etc.

Mine comes out to 70-80 or so grams a day, but can range considerably for different people. Do you trust your nut? If so, stop messing with your protein intake and keep trying to get it all in. If you don't trust your nut, find one that you are comfortable with and then stick with their plan.

There could be many reasons why your losses have slowed down. Just my opinion, but I seriously doubt it is because your protein is too high. You are more likely in a normal stall. Remember, weight loss is not steady. It is a stair step.

I am very healthy and I eat right, I kind of trust my nut and that is why I am wondering what an average intake would be if I can't get 90, it isn't so much the weight loss as it is the feeling I have during the days when I get the Protein. I am in my 8th week and I do not want to lose any muscle. I am a elementary teacher and I have an active life style, less since surgery because my nut said since I am only getting 600-800 calories I shouldn't burn more then 250-300. I want to get there but if I can't how much until I am totally unhealthy?

      Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

        Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
