What do your incisions look like?

Recommended Posts

My 6 are covered with some sort of glue. They look super dry and are starting to itch. I bought some gauze to put over them tomorrow as it's my first nursing clinical since surgery last Monday (4/21) and I don't want to worry about something getting accidentally pulled by my scrubs.

Doc told me to take a cotton swab with nail polish remover, and lightly rub over them, after put neosporine on them. It worked for me, and both can be bought at the dollar store. I'm almost a month out, and mine are still scabbed, but the scab is starting to come off, so I keep up with the neosporine.

The itching probably means that the incisions are healing. My surgeon told me to just lightly wash over the incisions and the glue will eventually come off. He just told me not to peel the glue off. I am 2 weeks post op.

Just my opinion but I would leave the glue. They do appear to be scabbing over and the glue will just help to let them heal more thoroughly.

I only have 4 incisions. Just leave your owies alone. My doctor said not to use neosporin because it can actually trap bacteria in. Just wash over lightly with antibacterial soap and dab them dry softly :-)

I Have 6 incisions. 3 small and 3 a bit larger. One of my larger ones is still sore as well as soreness inside under that one too. Anybody feel a little pulling when moving, sneezing, coughing, deep deep breaths?

Yes! I cried when I saw myself in the mirror 5 days post-op. I know they're "battle scars" or whatever but geez are they ugly... I have four incisions and the largest one is the only one that gives me any discomfort. It looks tight and indents whereas the others do not. I am now a week post-op and it's gotten MUCH better. Still hurts to cough or stand for a longer period of time, but I'm able to yawn, get in/out of bed more easily and up/down our stairs. Good luck with your journey! :)

I'm a week out today too! Funny how far you can come in such a short time. As for the scars, I had 4 csections so these are just more to add.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
