I was banded on yesterday. Things are going pretty good. Is there anything else to do or take for gas? I'm not passing any gas. Chewing gas-x...anything else?

Thx :)

My gas pains were from the air injected into the abdominal cavity for surgery, not intestinal gas. So Gas-X was useless for me. Walking helped, and for shoulder pain, karate chops a few times a day.

It took most of a week for the gas to be reabsorbed into the tissues.

The gas pain is from the gas they pump inside the cavity for the operation. Gas X won't touch. it has to absorb back into the body. I went on youtube and found leslie sansone's walk off the pounds and did the one mile walk every day. Doc said to keep moving that helps the body to reabsorb the gas.

You're going to be bloated and full of gas for a few more days. Like everyone else said, most of it isn't intestinal gas so gas-x and other similar products won't do much for it. I could feel all sorts of movement in my intestines (the doctor called them bowel sounds) for days but didn't pass any gas. It's just your body getting back in working order after surgery :) just keep walking around. It really does help get everything back to normal!

I couldn't understand how people would write to take gas-x, because i took the strips and NOTHING helped. what helped me (finally) was taking some milk of magnesia, and wrapping my legs around a BODY PILLOW! holy smokes, that was a lifesaver for me!!!

I really appreciate the feedback! All I can say is WOW! I went to get the milk of magnesia. It worked!!!! Thanks again!

No way! Aw! I'm so glad that this advice helped! I finally feel like I am helping someone else out by being on this forum :D

That stuff is SO NASTY, but within an hour it started to release some of the pain that I had. I'm so thankful that it has helped you!

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
