Cindi2014 57 Posted April 27, 2014 Hi Everyone. Yesterday was Day 1 of my pre-op diet. I am scheduled for surgery on May 5th. I woke up thinking this is really Day 1 of a "healthy" and "happy" rest of my life. I looked like a bag lady as I left for work... carrying everything that I would need for the day - my blender, high Protein slim fast, measuring cups, sugar free Jello, sugar free popsicles, Decaf tea, splenda, skim milk and broth. Needless to say I was well prepared and I think I did quite well. I won't lie, I was hungry but I made it through. I am trying to keep my spirits up and I have the confidence that I can survive until my surgery. I pray that everyone else who may be thinking about the surgery and/or starting their pre-op diet can try to think ahead like I am to how wonderful we will all look and feel in the very near future. For me, that thought is what's motivating me !! 1 Vtsoutherngal reacted to this

The Icy One 518 Posted April 27, 2014 The pre op diet blows. No fooling. But it is only temporary, once you have your surgery, you will get to do the post op diet! Yippee! But, about a month after surgery you will be back on solids, regular food, in bandster portions. Hang in there. It's worth it.
JustWatchMe 7,117 Posted April 27, 2014 It's hard but it will be over before you know it, and things will begin to improve immediately. Even before surgery, I was sleeping better. A few weeks after surgery I was off of one of my blood pressure meds. I'm exercising daily. I couldn't walk the one and a half blocks to church four months ago without my knees and back hurting so bad I could cry. Today I walk on the treadmill every day for at least a mile, sometimes two. I'm only six weeks post-op and just started solids a few days ago. First fill is Monday. The weeks up until now helped me build discipline and good monitoring habits. I feel wonderful. Good luck and keep your eye on the goal. It's all worth it!
