My surgery is in 2 days and tomorrow is Clear liquids only. Tonight I am making dinner for myself and family and it is so weird. I keep wondering how strange it will be after this when either for a couple months I will not be able to have anything they are having or even after just a few bites of what they are having. I wonder if my cooking will suffer because I can not taste as much. I wonder if I will forget to feed kids because I am concentrating on Protein, mushy stuff, Water intake and not hungry.

But tonight is dinner as usual as we all sit down at the table as a family like we do every other night. Tonight I will be having 3 ounces of mediterranean spice turkey tenderloins, 1 cup of roasted herb parmesan acorn squash and 1/2 cup of balsamic vinegar and apple cider glazed brussel sprouts. Tonight dinner will be yummy.

Tonight I am sticking with the plan and having what I am allowed to have.

Tommorow is the start of a new adventure, a new way of living and eating and a new me.

Blerg....tonight I burnt the brussel sprouts because I was writing this.

I was just worried about remembering to cook and shop is all. I am not worried about when on solids. Just all the liquid and mushy stuff. It does not appear to be a problem though.

I have been home 3 full days.

I am boiling a chicken to make a pot of chicken Soup for dinner tonight. So I can have some too. broth only of course.

They had sandwiches and an apple for lunch and I was able to make Breakfast this morning so they had eggs with mushrooms, onions, bell peppers, turkey bacon and some homemade salsa.

Happy kids and hubby.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
