I'm day 12 post band op. I've had a really rough night w loose stools all night. Kept waking up to use the bathroom. My son had a stomach bug earlier in the week. I think that's what it is but is it ok on my post op band healing stomach. My stomach won't stop making noises ( like a gurgeling). Should I eat or drink something to help settle it?

You don't want to tempt the flu gawds by filling your stomach with stuff it can throw up if you think you might have a bug? Vomiting is one of the main concerns for band slips in the first 30 days. The convulsion can tear the sutures away and cause the band to migrate. Stick to Water or other benign fluids if you're feeling ill.

If you're not ill, gurgling is normal and won't stop now or maybe ever. Mine still gurgles, swishes, rumbles every day.

Mine gurgles a lot too. I'm almost 8 weeks out and sometimes its so loud it wakes me up at night. But it's all normal. Don't worry about gurgling, just worry about not throwing up!

I'm thankfully not throwing up but in really bad shape on the other end. Need to keep rushing to the bathroom. I'm loosing so much liquid. It's def a stomach bug. Guess it'll be more Water Jello broth for replenishment. My ??? Is it's ok on my band to be going to the bathroom this much? Is my stomach "working" too hard during this healing time?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
