Fat Doctor show on youtube-awesome!

Recommended Posts

I just wanted to give everyone here a head's up on this! A friend on the RNY boards once mentioned this show so I went over to youtube to check it out.

It's an awesome weight loss show from England and sort of like "my 600 lb life" but the patients tend to be more around 250-400 lbs.

The shows offer some really good insight into lifestyle post op, eating, and shows the entire surgeries. it is fairly graphic but also VERY educational into the entire WLS industry.

It doesn't hurt that the dr on the show is also easy on the eyes and very down to earth with a true passion to help people!

there are only a couple VSG patients that I have seen, and a few lap-band, but mostly RNY but still a really good show.

hope you enjoy!

What's the name of the show?

Fat Doctor

I watch it on Hulu...I have only seen one VSG, all the rest are RnY, but it's a great show...super informative. Plus, I'm a sucker for almost anything British (though you will have to keep a calculator handy to figure out how many pounds is 25 stone! [14 lbs = 1 stone])

I love that show! LOL, I did keep my phone right by me to calculate the weights as well :) The Dr seems to care and I love hearing him talk ;) Great show, very informative.

This show is more intense, shows the actual surgery, it has way more episodes than my 600 lb life. Fantastic series!!

Thank you for sharing that weight loss surgery YouTube video! We recently added a Video Section to BariatricPal. Can you please post some of the videos? It takes two minutes and our members would greatly appreciate it!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
