How to get rid of gas

Recommended Posts

I've been post opp for three days now and I'm having an incredible amount of pain in my shoulder due to gas. How can I get rid of it? It hurts worst then my incisions.

I had the same thing for the first three days and all I could do was put a heating pad on it and walk as much as I could to release the gas. I'm post-op day 5 now and my shoulder pain is gone. Hope that helps some! Good luck!

I think pretty much everyone seems to go through that. I don't think there is really anything you can do. If someone will rub it, that helped me, but only while it was being rubbed. Sorry. It does pass though. Hang in there.

Referred pain is TERRIBLE for laproscopic surgeries. I have had a few, and something that works for me is WALKING as much and as often as possible. Also, like somebody else said, heating pad works well. best of luck!

Walking is the only thing that gets rid of it, try as often as possible, I know it's easier said than done

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
